Religion THE PERQUIMANS WEEKLY, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4,2015 5 Obituaries William Woodley Bundy Jr. Scouts visit library, learn history From staff reports HERTFORD - William Woodley Bundy, Jr., 61, of 1666 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, North Carolina, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Born in Elizabeth City, he was the son of the late William W. Bundy, Sr. and Myrtle Lee Nixon Bundy. Mr. Bundy was a property manager, farm er and avid writer. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Bundy is survived by his girlfriend, Carolyn Betts, a sister, Sharon Morrison (spouse Ted), and two nephews, Robert Downes, and Matthew Mor rison. A memorial service took place Saturday, Jan uary 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. The family received friends immediate ly following the service in the lobby of the funer al home. See more Obituaries online at DailyAcivance.com The Bear Den of Cub Scout Pack 150 visited the Perquimans County Library on Jan. 26 to learn about history. Anita Bennett, the head of the library, pulled material to show the boys what was happening on the day they were born and again when they were five years of age. Bennett also showed the Cubs a video of the first moon landing from the library’s web site NC Live. One of the things the Scouts had to do was determinate the signifi cance of July 20,1969, the date Apollo 11 and Ameri cans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed. In a book called Fact finder, the Scouts found a listing of rockets that Perquimans County Library Librarian Anita Bennett talks with Caleb Hobbs, David Berry, Colin Tibbs, J.C. DeLeon and Vincent Denny during a recent visit by Cub Scout Pack 1500s Bear Den to the library. SUBMITTED PHOTO were sent into space and the dates they launched. Next, they looked at non-fiction children’s books with pho tos — Apollo and the moon landing, and The Best Book of Spaceships. Sid Eley, executive direc tor of the Perquimans Coun ty Chamber of Commerce, also took the Cubs down memory lane as he shared pictures and recollected tales of how Hertford used to be.
