This week’s devotion may not reach everyone who reads it. That’s because it will only appeal to a certain group of people. The people I am speaking of are real people who don’t mind being honest about their walk with God. The truth is some of us are still carrying pain from situations that happened long ago. We try to go on with our own version of forgiveness and the truth is it’s not really forgiveness at all. We even use that well known phrase that comes with our version of forgiveness: “ I’ll forgive, but I won’t forget!. When we forgive, we release peace of mind to the person who hurt us. When we forget that’s when we receive our own peace of mind. The point 1 am trying to make is when we hold on to past hurts, the only one really being affected is us. In the book of John chapter 15 verse 5, Jesus lets us in on one of the most powerful principles in the bible. Everything that pertains to our lives can only be accomplished through him. We-will never love one another the way we should unless it’s through him. We will never truly forgive one another unless it’s through him. I encourage you to spend more time in the word, more time in prayer, and even in fasting. In time, as you are filled more and more with the love of Christ you will begin to see others the same way Christ sees us. Turn to Christ for your healing... Abide in him, you will never be the same! & ELIZABETH CITY - Ian Patrick Gralton, 25, of 1107 Cedar Street, passed away on Wednesday, Oc tober 12, 2016 in his home. ► Born in Elizabeth City on October 2,1991, he was the son of James Thomas “Jim” Gralton of Eliza beth City and Sallie Jean Lane of Hertford.
