Perquimans volleyball
opens season with win

The Perquimans volley-
ball team defeated Pasquo
tank 25-13, 25-6, 25-8 on
Monday.
Samantha Midgett led the
Lady Pirates with 17 service
points, 15 aces and seven
kills, Cayce Copley followed
with six kills and three ser
vice points.
Allie Copeland chipped in
with 20 service points, Jen
sen Hunter had 13 assists
and McCrae Knapp had 10
assists for Perquimans (1-
0) in the non-conference
match at Pasquotank.
“I thought we played de
cent for our first game of the
season,” Perquimans coach
Kristie Thach said. “There
are defmately some things
we need to improve on as
the season progresses.”
Pasquotank is 0-1 on the
season.
The Pirates were sched
uled to play First Flight
on Tuesday and will host
Northeastern on Thursday.
