This unit will answer all calls to fires in buildings along with other fire equipment. In ad dition to providing tools and equipment for fire fighting and forcible entry, it is also available for emergency calls invol ving vehicle accidents, drownings, boating acci dents, and other types of emergencies that involve persons being trapped or pinned. They are equip ped with a rescue truck, boat, and some of the various pieces of equip ment, which include, first aid kits, resuscitator, hghts and lighting equip ment, wood and metal saws, winch-hoist, hy draulic jacks, ropes, stretchers, and aluminiz- ed heat-reflective rescue suits. The boat is equip ped for water rescue and Visited High Point Mr. & Mrs. Allen Strains and two children visited in the city of High Point last week. Mr. Strains is the nephew of Mr. P. 0. Armstrong of 1018 Sherrod Avenue. Mr. Strains, a commer cial aviator is also employed in the U. S. Post Office in their home town, Nashville, Tennessee, Mrs. Strains is employed as a councilor with the U. S.' Government. They were entertained by and in the homes of Mr. & Mrs. A. V. Walker and Mr. & Mrs. W. G. Dunovant while visiting. They are both active in sports and art. Mr. Strains said flying and golf are special to him. He has the trophies to prove recovery. This rescue unit is not designed to be used for the transportation of injured persons. As in the past, emergency trans portation is provided by the ambulance service. This rescue unit is another step by the Fire Department to provide better service to our citizens. A coordinated Emer gency Plan has been put into effect to insure an organized operation in the event of a boating accident or drowning at Oak Hollow Lake. Park rangers, the High Point Fire Department, Rescue Squad, the County Ambulance Service, City Police, the Sheriff’s Dept., Volunteer Rescue Squads, the County Wildlife Pro tector, the County Forest Service, and the Medical Examiner compose the coordinated effort that is in effect for the new lake. These organizations have perfected a rescue plan for all city lakes to protect hfe and insure a coordin ated effort of all agencies. In an emergency. Park Rangers will activate the emergency rescue plan involving all departments. Rangers will then direct the rescue operations of all units. Emergency entrances to all parts of Oak Hollow Lake have been mapped out and are known to all units. Citizens are requested to report all emergencies to the Park Rangers. Everyone is asked to cooperate in case of an emergency. It is hoped that the practice of safe boating habits and good judgement will prevent this plan from ever being used. However, this is the only known coordinated plan of cooperation be tween so many agencies to protect the lives of citizens at any park facilities.
