PAGE 6 HIGH POINT A Leader Of His Flock THE TRIBUNAL AID OBITUARIES iesus WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15,1S73 By Eva A. McQuirter Rev. Coleman has been pastor of this church since Oct, 1971, and under ^e dynamic lea- dershij/af this young man of God, our Church has grown both spiritually and financially. Words are inadequate for me to express all the w^onderful things he has done since coming to this congrega tion. We are in the process of paving our church ground which was done through pledges and donations in the amount of $10,000. Rev. Coleman is a great spiritual leader. Under his divine leadership, a new sense of jubilation and determination has been created in our church. He is truly a great leader and we are thankful to God and to the annual conference for sending him and his gracious wife and little daughter to us. Our Church has exper ienced a succession of victories since he as sumed the pastorate. The church has been reviti- lized. We have youth Kidney IkM . A ... .M Rev. G. Ray Coleman recreation and other groups. A number of new members have been added to the fold, and visitors are in attendance almost every Sunday. I can say we, at St. Stephen's Church, are on the upward march. Rev. Coleman is a good shepherd and has his sheep at heart, and is not willing that any should go astray. May God continue to bless him and his family with his richest blessings and may he continue to live so that in the end he will say like the Apostle Paul, “I have fought a good fight, 1 have finished my course, 1 have kept the faith,” II Tim. 4:7. y Continued from Page 1 manner. Also, two-way communication will be enhanced,” says Dr. Westcott. Some other significant changes are: The former Welfare Programs Divi sion, in order to comply with Federal law, was split into two sections with Louis O’Conner, former Division Director, serving as Chief of Family Services, and Myra J. Mitchiner being promoted to Chief of the Income Maintenance Section. Two former sections of the Division have been transferred to the new Division of Facility Ser vices of the Department of Human Resources. These are jail and detention services and fund solici tation licensing. John Syria, former Chief of the Staff Development Section of the Division, has been promoted to the Division of Services for the Blind as Chief of Social and Rehabilitation Services. Staff development and personnel functions of the AROUND TOWN when this dedicated man speaks, he means much. His spiritual acts have caused us to respect him highly. One can truthfully say he is in a service for God. Recently, a group of enthusiastic members and friends journeyed to Charlotte, N. C. to the New East Stonewall A.M.E. Zion Church, where the Young AduU Ushers were celebrating their fourth Anniversary. The adult and Youth Choirs rendered several selections. Rev. Coleman delivered a sould stirring message taken from St. John (10:1-3). He used as a subject, “Remember My Name.” This was enjoyed by all present. I must say we, at St. Stephen, love our pastor and believe he loves us. We hope and pray that he will continue to lead his flock into green pastures. Pray for us that we may endeavor to work for God and Zion. If you live in High Point, N. C. of out, you are welcome to visit us. We are located at 1012 Leonard Avenue. Division have been conso- Hdated and placed under the supervision of E. Clark Edwards, Manpower Dir ector of the Department of Human Resources. In an earlier stream lining of the Division of Social Services this year, 58 positions were elimin ated from the budget and funds for these positions returned to the General Assembly. Social Services RALEIGH — A change in the structure of the state office of the Division of Social Services has been completed according to Director Dr. Renee Westcott. The new structure eliminates three of the top nine administrative posi tions, creates two new Division assistant director positions, establishes four regional offices with a manager of each respon sible for the supervision of staff and for the coordination of services within the Regional Office of Human Resources. Dr. Westcott continues to serve as Director of the Division, and Robert H. Ward, as Deputy Direc tor. Fred D. J stars twinkling in their diadem of night, he sat ihem all moving to the tune of time and none could get back into its proper place once it lost step with the movement of time. This may be the change for shooting stars. When they lost the pace sat by time not even God himself will change the pace. Jesus is waiting for the fullness of time. Jesus will not show up on earth till time has ripened the earth for the harvest of salvation. The Holy ghost waited outside of Jerusalem till time had made ready the hearts of those who waited, for Divine power had been made ready. Jesus sat the example for all men in the use of time. There was no place in his life for idleness or jesting. We have no records that he ever laughed even though he wept for the salvation of Israel. Hear his slogan as he moved among the sinful sons of a wicked world. “MY FATHER WORKS HITHERTO AND I WORK.” And again he says, “I MUST WORK THE WORKS OF HIM THAT SENT ME WHILE IT IS DAY, THE NIGHT COMETH WHEN NO MAN CAN WORK. Jesus was in a race with time from the manger to the grave. He had only thirty three years to establish the kingdom of God on earth. Had he been late one second, sin might have struck him down before he got to the cross. But when the hour came he was there. It was at that moment He cried; “FATHER THE HOUR IS COME, GLORIFY THY SON” There is to much to be done for any one to idle his time away in the kingdom of God. Jobless times are unknown to the kingdom of heaven and the words of the text resounds in our ears today; “WHY STAND YE HERE ALL THE DAY IDLE?” The task of salvation is great and the time is short. Ask yourself have you been too late to get a good job? Did you promise to do something and found it was to late when you got there. Time is important. Why stand ye idle and waste valuable time. It will be fortunate for those who question their own idleness and begin the toils of their task. Jesus is coming back but not for heir. When he comes again he will come with our reward. There will be no task for the idler, but eternal joy for the toiler. Do you think your part has been done? Are you one who waits for others to do their share first? ... Don’t stand still, life is to short for that, work for the night is coming and don’t be found idle. \CHURCH CALENDAR MONT VERNON BAPTIST CONGREGATION UNITED CHURCH Wednesday: Senior Choir WEDNESDAY: Mid-week rehearsal at the regular hour.
