THE FOUR TOPS
Soul Train Ready To Roll
fflGH POINT - The Four
Tops, Blue Magic and Barbara
Mason will guest star on Soul
Train, the nationally popular
teen dance show this Saturday
afternoon on WGHP-TV,
channel 8. Cornelius is host
and executive producer of the
television program.
The Four Tops are perhaps
best remembered for their
gold singles “Keeper of the
J Castle” and “Ain’t No
Woman (Like the One I Got).”
They also sang “Are You Man
Enough,” which was written
for the movie Shaft in Africa.
As hitmakers go, the Four
Tops are about as solid as they
come. They come to Soul Train
singing “Brother’s Keeper,”
“1 Just Can’t Get You Out of
My Mind” and “I’m a One
Woman Man.”
Blue Magic is a talented
group of five young singers
who have been singing
together for little more than a
year. Based out of Philadel
phia they incorporate the
“Philadelphia Sound” with
the “old” Philadelphia sing
ing style of the early fifties.
They will work their magic on
the Soul Train audience with
two of their popular tunes,
“Look Me Up” and “Stop To
Start.”
The lovely and attractive
Barbara Mason is a lady of
many talents, which include
writing, singing and playing
the piano. Althbugh still in her
twenties, she has recorded
some 40 of her own songs, and
among the other artists who
have released her material are
Gladys Knight and the Pips,
Johnny Mann, the Lettermen
and the Rovaletts.
