That the study of mathema tics can be both fun and meaningful will be the thesis of two-day meeting at A(feT State University October 4-5. The statewide mathema tics conference on “Motiva tion: Key to Success” will be sponsored by the North Carolina Council of Teach ers of Mathematics in conjunction with the State Department of Education and the Department of Mathematics at A&T. More than 1,000 persons are expected to attend meeting. “We have sought to bring some of the nation’s foremost authorities on the teaching of mathematics to these sessions,” said Mrs. Virginia Newell, president of the Council. “We would hope that teachers of all levels from kindergarten through college will avail themselves of this opportu nity.” Mrs. Newell is on the staff at Winston-Salem State University.
