DURHAM, N.C. -The leaders in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basket ball statistics are about as evenly matched as the conference standings ac cording to the weekly report released from the Commissioner's office here Tuesday. No individual or team has an overwhelming lead in any of the statistical departments. However, Delaware State leads in four of the six team categories. Harr Nickens, a 6-1, 175-pound freshman from Washington, D.C. is the leading scorer in the February 8; S.C. State at Maryland-E.S.; Howard at N.C. Central. MEAC Tourney Shapes Up conference with an average of 2) .5 points per game. He is followed in the scoring column by Robert Little of North Carolina Central with an average of 19.8 points per game. Morgan State's 7-0 All-American Marvin Web ster is the top rebounder in the conference with an average 15.8 recoveries per game. Cedric Roane of Maryland-Eastern Shore is second in rebounding with a 14.9 average. Sam Shepherd of Dela ware State is the top free throw shooter in the league with a .838 percentage. The LeGrange, North Carolina senior has made 31 of 38 attempts from the 15-foot line. Don Aaron of Maryland-Eastern Shore ranks second in this category with a .827 average. Delaware State leads in team offense, rebounding, free throw percentage and scoring margin. The Hor nets are averaging 85.1 points per game and 55.5 rebounds. From the free throw line Delaware State is shooting at a .678 clip. The scoring difference oi 7.1 points per game foi Delaware State is listed at the top of the conference. Morgan State is the top ; defensive team in the seven-team league having given up 70.6 points per outing. Maryland-Eastern Shore is the top team in field goal percentage. The Hawks have made 531 of 1103 for an average of .481.
