The CIAA Tournament BALTIMORE* MD-An ar ray of talen headlined by All-American Marvin Webster, will be on display at the Baltimore Civic Center February 27, 28, and March 1 when the fourth Mid-Eastern Ath letic Conference (MEAC) unfoils at the Baltimore Civic Center. Webster, who will be rounding out his collegiate play in his hometown during the MEAC Tour nament, is slated to go either first or second in the professional basketball drafts this season. The 7-0 All-American has been voted the Player of the Year in the MEAC for the past two seasons and will be one of the candidates for the honor again this year, Webster climaxed his junior season last year by leading Morgan to the Division Two cage title and was named the College Division Player of the Year last season. Webster and Morgan State played in the finals of the third annual MEAC Tournament last year at the Civic Center but the Bears came out on the short end of a 77-62 score to Maryland-Eastern Shore. While Webster is an All-American and the leader of the Morgan quintet. Coach Nat Frazier also has some player with plenty of talent. Backcourt wizzard Billy Newton is the Morgan floor leader and potent spark in the Bear attack. Pat Edwards, Jethro Crum and Mike Streety are other Morgan player who will display their talens at the MEAC tournament last. North Carolina A&T’s Allen Spruill is one of the best “crowd pleaser” basketball players in the conference. Spruill dazzles ments. In two previous MEAC Tournaments John son has displayed some of his best performances. Fans who attended the MEAC Tournament last year will remember Ron Johnson as one of the best all around performers for the Aggies. Unheralded Sinclair Cor bett may be the key to A&T's survival in the tournament. Corbett, a 6-10, is top rebounder for the Aggies averaging better than !0 rebounds per outing. Alex Barron of South Carolina State is described by his coach as being one of the best when the chips are down. Barron has been consistant scorer and re bounder for the Bulldogs this season. Robert Little of North Carolina Central stands only 6-7 but the Winston- Salem, N.C. junior plays like a giant when he takes the floor. Little is averaging better than 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles. Pro scouts who will be on hand for the MEAC Tournament are expected to take a long look at Little during the three-day dribble-derby. While Little is the leadering scorer and re bounder, NCC’s first-year coach Sterling Holt would take nothing from Wesley Johnson. Johnson stands 6-4 but Coach Holt has moved him to the frontcourt this season and he has responded by averaging double figures in both rebounding and scoring. Delawar State is prob ably the tallest overall team in the conference and the Hornets have some top individual players in the league. Perry is Franklinton season, and has done very well. In high school. Perry participated in baseball, basketball, and football. When asked about his future plans. Perry stated, “If possible, 1 would like to play pro-baseball.
