Due to Mr. S.B. Fuller's
determination, faith and
love for his fellowmen the
Honorable Dan Walker
signed a proclamation
declaring June 4, 1975, as
‘‘S.B. Fuller Day" in the
state of Illinois.
Mayor Richard Daly sent
a letter on the significance
of the event. He stated that
his dinner should give
encouragement to all and
that Mr. Fuller’s greatness
should call anyone to
greatness. Mayor Daly
further expressed his
desire that ‘‘the testimonial
will serve, as had Mr.
Fuller’s life, to bring
renewed faith in opportu
nity for all of true courage
and determination."
George E. Johnson
revealed that he had
worked in the Fuller factory
and one day he dropped in
from Page 1
on Mr. Fuller and became
inspired to be like him. He
imitated his every move,
his walk and his talk and,
basically, his ideas. With
Mr. Fuller’s blessing,
after ten years, he was able
to start his company. He
obtained guidance in many
areas from him. When
Johnson Products was
destroyed by fire, they
moved their operation into
the Fuller factory at Mr.
Fuller’s invitation. With
this needed help, within a
week they were back in
business.
Highlighting the event
was the presentation of a
bronze bust of Mr. Fuller to
Mrs, Fuller and a check to
Mr. Fuller for $1,000 for
every year of his life
($70,000). Mr. Fuller also
received a personal gift
from Mr. and Mrs. George,
E. Johnson of 2,000 shares
of Johnson Products stock.
