From their lengthy list of best selling hits, the award- winning O’Jays sing "Survi val”, the title song from their latest gold album, and three other crowd pleasers, "Give the People What They Want”, "How Time Flies” and "Let Me Make Love To You". THo members Eddie Levert, Walter Williams and William Powell, together since high school days in Canton, Ohio, spend eight months of each Soul Train’s Coming Attrli^on year on the road yet manage to find time to develop young artists in the Qeveland area where they have formed Shaker Records. Rhythm and blues artist Little Milton, who has had a long haul up the ladder of fame since growing up in rural Mississippi, applies ills “Memphis Sound” to "If You Talk In Your Sleep" and "Packed Up and Took My Mind”. Congressman Andrew Young from Atlanta, Georgia, deals with the many problems facing elderly Black Ameri cans - economic, political and social. The play was conceived and is directed by Vinnette Carroll with lyrics by Micki Grant. It is a spirited song and dance musical with an all-Black east of performers.' It has won four Tony Awards, four Los Angeles Drama Critics Awards, two New York Drama Desk Awards, two Outer Circle Awards, two Obie Awards and a Grammy Award for its lively album. The new High Point Theat re and Exhibition Center is scheduled to open October 7th, with a fabulous line-up of entertainment attractions. “Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope” is the fourth in the line-up of the October open ing. The Center not only fea tures a 1000 seat theatre but also three large rooms that will accommodate groups of 50 to 400 people for meet ings and conventions. Com munity events as well as professional shows are plan ned for the theatre. The offices of the High Point Arts Council will also be located within the center.
