Tony Award winning Broad
way production of “Don’t
Bother Me, I Can’t Cope” is
coming to High Point The
atre Friday, October 17th
for a one-night performance.
The play was conceived and is
directed by Vinnette Carroll
with lyrics by Micki Grant.
It is a spirited song and dance
musical with an all-Black east
of performers.' It shows an
expression of the black condi
tion with pride and joy, all
through song and dance. The
main theme of the play is

Cope” ran for three years on
Broadway. It has won four
Tony Awards, four Los Angeles
Drama Critics Awards, two
New York Drama Desk Awards,
two Outer Circle Awards, two
Obie Awards and a Grammy
Award for its lively album.
The new High Point Theat
re and Exhibition Center is
scheduled to open October
7th, with a fabulous line-up
of entertainment attractions.
“Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t
Cope” is the fourth in the
line-up of the October open
ing.
The Center not only fea
tures a 1000 seat theatre but
also three large rooms that
will accommodate groups of
50 to 400 people for meet
ings and conventions. Com
munity events as well as
professional shows are plan
ned for the theatre. The
offices of the High Point Arts
Council will also be located
within the center.
The High Point Theatre is
for all to use and the High
Point Arts Council urges all
to do so.
