food industry, including pos

“The farmer is not get-

know, ‘how come’,” Preyer
declared.
“I think it is untair, as
some have been doing, to

I think there must be some

On thursdays a drawing
class is offered to smaller
children at the Leonard Street
Center from 4 to 6 p.m.
Friday ends the week with
another pre-school art program
from 9 to 12 at the Hillside
Center.
Nfe. Gwendolyn Harrington,
an art major at UNC-G and
Director of the Arts Pro
gram, says that the arts
programs are “good places for
people (young and old alike)
to come and express them
selves in art.” The recreation
centers are open for many
types of art and are virtually
free to participants but “we
need more black involve
ment,” says Ms. Harrington.
The facilities that are open
are primarily located in the
Black communities; but a
surprisingly small number of
Blacks show up for the class
es. According to Ms. Harring
ton, one of her classes at
Leonard St. has no black in
volvement, just whites not
within the neighborhood.
Even the Hillside Center,
where young blacks might
appreciate this, do not attend
as much as Ms. Harrington
would like and expect.
There are other arts and
crafts programs available
through the Park and Recrea
tion Department. For more
information please contact
Ms. Gwendolyn Harrington,
Hillside Center, 882-0410,
Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m.

And in closest union witn tnis new and wondrous insight
was intense and holy passion. The heavenly vision had come
to them, and the power to follow it thrilled their whole
existence. Out of this inspiration, an inspiration that
involved both a heavenly vision and a heavenly passion,
came the entire service, character, and power of their lives.
The upper room was to the disciples the sign of a new and
permanent inspiration, an inspiration that gradually chang
ed all their thoughts, that slowly shaped all their feelings,
that ultimately controlled their whole being and hope.
Have we no upper room? Did the first disciples alone
possess this correspondence with the Master? Are his
inspirations spent? Is there no place where we can gather,
where we can open our whole being to the Highest, where
through sincere penitence and honest prayer and brotherly
fellowship and devout and reverent worship we may receive
power from above?

A RIDDLE IN RHYMES
by
Rev. T. M. Walker
WHAT AHT?
Fm the size erf a man’s head but I’m slick and round.
And I’m heavier than a basketball.
I’m not heavy as led, but I’m firm and quite round
And I’m never damaged w^hen I get a hard fall.
My two eyes are hollow, and smaller than my mouth
But I can’t see even if I try.
Nfy mouth swallows human thumbs that cane back out
As fingers are withdrawn from my eyes.
WHAT AM I?
Like cars on the highway speeding down the lane,
I have my time and place for speeding.
At the time of a tight play when I’m on a plane,
I speed my target without heeding.
My users hold me up, swing back and shove forward.
Wallowing my chestnut face on the floor.
When I am out of the rut and well directed toward
A goal, it’s the high things I knock lower.
Away down the line some proud little soldiers stand,
Each one a challenging little guy.
They look so fine while seemingly in command.
But who could upset them worse than I.
WHAT AM I?
When Fm sent dovm the aisle towards the wooden sQldiars
I intend to make the white soldiers fly;
Thus being scattered wide as I hit them like boulders
When I zip through them and keep rolling by.
WHAT AM I?
(The answer to last week's riddle is TELE VISION.)
(The answer to this riddle will appear in the next
issue of THE TRIBUNAL AID.)
