CIAA Cage Tourney Tixs On Sale HAMPTON, Va.— Tickets for the 31st Annual Central Intercollegiate Athletic Assoc iation Basketball Tournament went on sale October 5th, Commissioner L. D. Smith announced. The CIAA Basketball Tour nament will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Febru ary 26, 27, and 28, 1976, Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, Va. FSU Rolls by John B. Henderson FAYETTEVILLE - Fayetteville State University rolled over the St. Paul’s College Tigers 26 - 9, for its third straight win in a CIAA battle here Saturday after noon. The win gives the Broncos a 4 - 1 overall mark and a standing of 2 -1 In the league. The visiting Tigers In making the announce ment, Commissioner Smith stated that Hampton Coliseum Is one of the finest arenas in the Southeast and that there is not a bad seat in the house. Premium reserved tickets are scaled at $20.00 and reserved seats are scaled at $15.00. Tickets have been distrib uted to member institutions and will also be on sale at the Hampton Coliseum. Norfolk State College is the defending champions of the tournament. The tourney field is made up of the top four teams in the Northern Division and the top four teams in the Southern Division. Teams in the North ern Division include Norfolk State College, Elizabeth City State University, Hampton Institute, Saint Paul’s College, Virginia Union University, Over St. Paul, 26~9 are 0 - 2 in the CIAA and are 1 - 4 overall. The Tigers scored first in the second quarter on a seven-yard Qeld goal and took a 3 - 0 lead to the dressing room at the half. FSU’s taunted defense came to life in the third quarter when defensive end Dave Jones pounced on a loose Tiger oval in the end zone for a six pointer. The PAT by FSU was missed but Ray McDougal’s club never trailed the rest of the day. The final Bronco tally came on a 28-yard pass play combo from quarterback Car los Bailey to flanker Wayne Blythwood with Williams booting the PAT for a 26 - 9 victory. and Vir^nia State College. After action Saturday no less than six teams are still in the running for coveted title won last year by South Carolina State. Saturday’s action saw Howard nip Dela ware State, 12 - 7 in Dover, Delaware, Morgan State con cluded its homecoming activi ties with a 26 - 0 shut-out win over Maryland Eastern Shore, N. C. A&T knocked Norfolk State from the unbeaten ranks by exploding to a 35 - 13 decision over the home- standers and South Carolina State edged Johnson C. Smith Saturday night, 10 - 7 in Charlotte, N. C. The schedule this week features three league games and one non-conference en counter. Homecomings will also highlight the week with three homecoming games on tap. N. C. A&T will celebrate its homecoming against Mary land-Eastern Shore beginning at 1 o’clock. Delaware State will be at North Carolina Central in a league game at 1:30 and Morgan State will supply the opposition for South Carolina State’s home coming at 2 p.m. Howard concludes its homecoming activities with a 1:30 test against Virginia State. Howard and Delaware State played to a near stand off at Dover, Delaware. The Bison scored in the first quarter on a five-yard pass from Michael Banks to Daryl Dennis. The rest of the scoring came in the final period when Howard increas ed its margin to 12-0 when Dan Jones plunged over from the three. The Hornets struck back late in the game on a 34-yard scoring strike from quarterback Andre Brovra to fitllhack Isaac Muns. For the second straight week running back George Ragsdale was the offensive stand-out for the Aggies. Ragsdale rushed for more than 100 yards for the second straight week and scored two touchdowns while teammate Elsworth Turner tossed two scoring aerials. Ramdale. who finished the w«|li »I 4 . FOOTBALL AT FSU-Full- back James Godwin may go down in history as the greatest running back at Fayetteville State University (N.C.) and is sure to go high in the pro draft. Presently, Goodwin is lead ing the team in rushing and scoring with 483 yards and five TDs. Last year, the all-CIAA and All-American candidate rushed for more then 1000 yards and nine TDs. Godwin is heavily scouted by the pros and appears to be headed for another spectacular season. FSU presently has a 3 -1 mark. (FSU Photo by John B.
