Spaulding of Durham, North CaroHna is an internationally acclaimed business executive, administrator, statesman and a loyal and devoted Prince Hal! Mason. In the field of business, Brother Spaulding occupies the unique role as an authority as he has served as consultant and resource specialist to numerous corporations and financial institutions across the nation. He is a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Durham where he has for many years served as teacher of the James E. Shepard Bible Class. He is married to Mrs. Elna B. Spaulding and they are the parents of four children. Brother Spaulding is a native of Columbus County, North Carolina, is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and has received further educational training at Howard University where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and various other institutions of higher learning. Some of the historic highlights of Brother Spaulding’s career are: first actuary of the National Negro Insurance Association and president for two terms of this organization: named an Honorary Admiral in the North Carolina Navy; and the receiving of a citation “for his unselfish devotion in helping to stablize our economy” from a United States president. Brother Spaulding has been a member of the Board of Directors of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc. and he has served on the Board of Directors of many large corporations such as the Board of W.T. Grant Company of New York. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Conference of Christians and Jews; has received the Civic Honor Award from the Durham Chamber of Commerce and a few years ago he was the recipient of the "Disntinguish Citizen’s Award” from the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of North Carolina. He has been the author of many scholarly publications and he is listed in most of the “Who’s Who” books. We are proud to honor Brother Spaulding this week for truly he has given a lifetime of service to his church, civil, professional national organizations and has at the same time given the needed leadership to North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company in order that it may hold its position of prestige among Black businesses of the world. Children’s Home Society of North Carolina is looking for an adoptive family who can help Rick to feel secure and loved.
