Johnson - Trice Wedding Celebrated
A campus romance was cli
maxed with wedding ceremonies
here last Wednesday, Aug. 24,
for Miss Patricia Jean Johnson'
of Greensboro and Isaiah Trice
of Joliet, IU.
The two met while attending
last year the University of Illi
nois at Urbana.
The pair was united in a dou
ble ring ceremony at 4 o'clock
in a semi-private event, held at
the residence of the bride's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. John
son, Sr., on Benbow Road. A
few close friends witnessed the
nuptials.
Officiating were: Rev. Loren
zo Lynch, pastor and Rev. J.
W. Tynes, pastor-emeritus, both
of the Greensbor" Providence
Baptist Churoh.
The bride wore a ballerina
length bridal gown of white,
silk organza and chantilly lace.
Its pointed bodice featured a
sabrina neckline and short
sleeves. The graceful skirt of
organza carried lace appliques,
front and back, and its hemline
was of lace scallops. She car
ried a bouquet of white, quilled
crysanthemums.
She was given in marriage by
her father.
The sister of the bride, Miss
Jacqueline Johnson, was maid of
honor. She wore a ballerina
length dress of pink lace and
chiffon with a scalloped neck
line. The chiffon skirt carried
a soft drape at the back.
The groom, the son of Mr.
and Mrs..Cleotha Trice, Sr., of
Joliet is a recent graduate of the
University of Illinois in physi
cal education, where he had be
gun graduate studies. While
there he was elected to the Phi
Epsilon Kappa Honorary Fra
ternity. Prior to three-years of
military service he attended

False Fire Alarm Brings

The Interdenominational Ushers
Convention Held in Wilmington
The Thirty Sixth Annual Ses
sion of the Interdenominational
Ushers Association of North
Carolina was held at St. Steph
ens A.M.E. Church in Wilming
ton, N. C., August 25-28.
Miss Frances Dolores Beam,
junior usher at St. Matthews
Methodist Churoh and the Ush
er's Union of Greensboro won
second prize in an oratoircal
contest. The prize is a scholar
ship to any college she chooses
to attend.
First prize was won by a high
school .girl from Wilmington
and third prize was won by a
Junior College boy of Wilming
ton.
Rev. Ulric George of Trini
dad, served as judge and also
rendered musical selections. A
highlight of the session was the
approval of a $60,000 drive to
be raised ' for the Old Folk's
Home in Franklinton, N. C., by
Dr. .Winston, Head of the Wel
fare of North Carolina. , The
drive will last for three months.
About four hundred delegates
from North Carolina attended
the convention. About fifteen
delegates from Greensboro at
tended.

for a financial drive to meet the
quota of $60,000.
The treasurer's report on the
convention was about $8,000.
