Johnson of 83 Waumbeck Ave., Boston, Mass., former mil itary aid to the Governor of Massachusetts, has been named as an assistant professor of com merce at North Carolina Col lege. Johnson, who's currently studying for the Ph. D. degree in industrial relations at Stan ford University, served as cap , tain in the United States Army Jin the South West Paaific dur . ing World War II and again dur ing the Korean campaign. He received the B. A., B. S. i^and M. B. A. degrees from Bos ton University. U The new NCC teacher was ap i. pointed military aid to the Gov s'ernor of Massachusetts in 1958. Johnson is currently a major ? in the U. S. XIII Army Corps ' with headquarters at Port Dev ens, Mass. ?' ? His teaching experience in cludes one year at Arkansas A and M. University and several terms with the U. S. Army. Johnson comes to NCC from the Stanford Research Institute at Menlo Park, Calif. Operation of a private cos metics firm and direction of the advertising program for Filene*s Store of Boston are among his business experiences. PEAK ENROLLMENT OF 2,000 EXPECTED AT NCC *. Durham, N. C. ? Formal wel coming exercises for the first wave of an expected peak en rollment of 2,000 students be gin at North Carolina College at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 15). NCC President Alfonso Elder will join college officials, local citizens, and student leaders in welcoming some 1,000 freshmen to an orientation activity slated for Thursday in the college's B. N. Duke Auditorium. Friday and Saturday (Sept. 16 and 17) will be given over to testing while Sunday will in troduce the newcomers to the campus' religious activities. Duke Auditorium will be the scene of the year's first Sunday School at 9 a.m. The term's first vesper message will be given at 3:30 p.m. by Dr. J. Neal Hugh ley, college minister. . The traditional faculty-new students that will bt held at the Senior Bowl at 4:30 p.m. Sun day under the sponsorship of the "department of Home Eco nomics. Library orientation, special meetings for scholarship stu dents, and feature programs of the men's and women's student personnel services will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednes day (Sept. 19, 20. 21). Health examinations are slat ed for Wednesday when con ferences with advisers also get under way. Registration is scheduled for Thursday (Sept. 22) with classes slated to begin for the fall se mester at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23. AGGIES VS. TENN. STATE AT GREENSBORO OPENER ? SEPT. 24 The A&T College Aggies and the Tennessee State Tigers, champions of their respective conferences, will tie up in an important intersectional foot ball game here Saturday night, Sept. 24. The game is set for Memo rial Sladiurn beginning at P. 00 o'clock. The Aggies will be seeking ' their first win, in five starts, over the Tennessee club. All of the engagements have been close and on two occasions the Tigers were required to I come from behind, in 1957 1o gain a G-6 tie and last year to overcome an 18-0 defioit. The game shapes up this sea son a battle between a hard running assault, afforder by the Nashville outfit, and a deadly passing attack generated by the Aggies. It is the season opener for both clubs.
