Tabor Meth odist Church dedicated their new hymnals on Sunday evening July .31 ai_3:pD The trustees of the church presented the books to the Choirs and members. Rev. J. W. Gwyn the District Superinten dent conducted the dedication. The choirs .under the direction of Mrs. F. L. Enzlow and Mrs. Frances Jones suns several hymna from the book. She is survived by five daugh ters,, Mrs. Lena Dcnnell, Mrs. Mary McCauley, Mrs. Eunice , Gregory, and Mrs. Lucille Wy rick all of Greensboro, and Mrs. Clara Summers of MeLeansville, North Carolina; three sons, Mes yers. MARTINS* CELEBRATED ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Johr R. Martin celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary at their home on Stafford 'Road in Sedalia. N. C. Host were their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Maynard, Sr. who stood in the receiving line. Mrs. Jeanne L. Rudd introduced the guests as they arrived. During the evening about 150 guests called at the Martins' home They were showered with beau tiful gifts of silver, also card3 and telegrams. Assisting with the serving of their guests were: Mrs. 'Dorthy Puller, Miss Anne Staples, Mrs. Jean Willamson, Mrs. Nannie Sue Jones, Miss Patricia Staples, Miss Jacquele Cole, Mr. Lonnie : Cathsy, Jr., and Mr. James Jones. Richardson Nurse Funeral services were held lor Mrs. Janice B. Brown al 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10 at High MRS. JANICE B BROWN Rock A.M.E. Church, Rev. E. W. Wilson pastor officiated. Mrs. Brown was born March 3, 1939 in Alamance County, daughter of Andrew and Gussie Black well. She was educated ir. Guilford County Schools and was a graduate of the A&T College of Nursing, Greensboro, N. C. She was a member and officer of the Teloca Club ana of the ! North Carolina Chapter of the American Nursing Association. She has served on tiie nursing staffs in White Plains, N. Y., Richmond Comunity Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, and re cently at L. Richardson Memor ial Hospital in Greensboro, N. C. Early in life she joined High Rock A.M.E. Church and re mained a faithful and loyal mem ber until her death. She leaves to mcurn their loss her parents, Mr. and Mrs. An drew Black well of Route 1, Gibson villo, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Bettye B. Martin of the home, and Mrs. Sallie B. Spaulding, Jr. Attends Two Bar Association Meetings Charles C. Spaulding, Jr., vice president and general counsel of the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company was in Detroit, Mich. August 3-6, to attend the annual meeting of the National Bar Association where he participated in a panel discussion on the subject: Mi nority EBusiness in the Ameri can Economic Mainstream with Emphasis on Resources and Eco nomic Growth. During August 8-12, Mr. Spaulding also attend ed the annual meeting of the American Bar Association held in Montreal, Canada. A native of Durham, Spauld ing is a graduate of Clark Uni versity and attended St. John's University Law School. He has been connected with North Car olina Mutual for more than 25 years and is a member of its board of directors. He recently received two im portant state and national ap pointments. Governor Moore named him one of the repre sentatives from the state's 100 counties that constitutes the CIIARLES C. SPAULDING, JR. nucleus of North Carolinians for Better Libraries, a newly form ed organization aimed at im proving local libraries in North Carolina. His other appointment was as a consultant in the legal services division of the Office of Economic Opportunity. In addition to these new ap pointment, Spaulding serves as a vice president of the George H. White Bar Association; a member of the executive com mittee of the National Bar As sociation; president of the Mer rick-Moore Memorial Park As sociation; a member of the Citi zens Advisory Committee for Community Development-Urban Renewal; a member of the board of directors of the Durham County Unit of the American Cancer Society; a director oi the Mechanics and Farmers Bank; and a member of govern ing boards of numerous civic, religious, and community organ izations.
