The article, "Utilization of Methionine by the Adult Rat, X. Incorporation of Methionine into Tissue Proteins," represents a progress report on a research study being conducted at the college under the sponsorship of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Cecile Hoover Edwards, professor of nutrition and re search, is senior investigator on the project. Associated with her and cooperating in the produc tion of the paper were: Miss Evelyn Gadsden and Curtis Higginbotham, both research as sistants, and Dr. Gerald A. DOWDY SELECTED FOR WHO'S WHO IN AP.IERICA Dr. Lewis C. Dowdy, presi dent of A&T College, is to be listed in the 1967 edition of WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA. Announcement of the selec tion of Dr. Dowdy for the hon or was made this week by the Chicago publishers of WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA. Dr. Dowdy, who joined the A&T College faculty in 1951 as instructor in education and di rector of student teaching, was elected president of the insti tution in April, 1964. In the interim he served as dean of the School of Education and General Studies, dean of instruc tion and acting president. A graduate of Allen Univer sity, he holds the M.A. degree from Indiana State University and the doctorate degree in Higher Education Administra tion from Indiana University. Besides holding memberships in numerous civic, religious and professional organizations. Dr. Dowdy is chairman of Pub lic Institutions of Higher Learn ing Southern States of the Southern Association of Col leges and Schools, vice presi dent of the North Carolina As sociation of Colleges and Uni versities, and a member of the Executive Committee of the As sociation of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. GATE CITY OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR SEPTEMBER 3-4 The Gate City Open Golf Tournament, a 36-hole compe tition for both pros and ama teurs, will be held here at the Gillespie Park Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, Septem ber 3 and 4.
