Rev. Denmark L. Poe, age 73
died at a local hospital Thursday,
February 23rd following several
months illness. He lived at 1302
Randolph Avenue.
Funeral service was held Sun
day, February 30th, 3:00 P. M.
Brown's Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Marion B. Jones, pastor of
First Congregational United
Church of Christ officiated. Bur
ial followed in Maplewood Ceme
tery.
The body remained at Brtwn's
Funeral Home until the hour of
service.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Sallie Poe; one daughter,
Mrs. Montrose Lee, Newport
News, Virginia; two sons, Harry
L. Poe and Denmark Poe, Jr..
both of Greensboro; three grand

Cemetery, Mebane, N. C.

Mrs. Mae Ruth Turner, of
Greensboro, Mrs. Lottie Shaw of
Sadalie, N. C., Mrs. Lucille Smith
of the home, and Mrs. Mamie

Four sons: Fred W. Fuller of

of Washington, D. C.; one sister,
Mrs. Janie Crisp of Mebane, N.
C., 27 grandchildren and 7
great-grandchildren.
The remains were carried to
the home on Friday evening to
lie in state until the hour of the
funeral.

Loaf. You'll find it's extra-moist and delicious because
it's made with Carnation Evaporated Milk, the milk

light, fluffy Mustard Sauce that accompanies the Ham
Loaf. Your Family will think it's great!
SPRING-TIME HAM LOAF
(Makes 6 to 8 servings)
? 1 pound ground smoked ham 1 slightly beaten egg
1 pound ground fresh pork i/i teaspoon cayenne
% cup fine dry bread crumbs Vi teaspoon paprika
Y2 cup finely chopped onion % teaspoon crushed
% cup (small can) undiluted rosemary
Carnation Evaporated Milk
Combine all ingredients. Mix lightly but thoroughly. Press
Into 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Unmold into shallow baking
dish. Bake in moderate oven (350?F.) lVa hours. Garnish
with sprigs of parsley. Serve immediately with Mustard
Sauce.
MUSTARD SAUCE
(Makes about 2 cups)
2 beaten egg yolks 1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon sugar 1 tablespoon prepared
'3 tablespoons prepared horseradish
mustard Vi ?UP undiluted -
2 tablespoons cider vinegar Carnation Evaporated Milk
1 tablespoon water f 1 tablespoon lemon ]uice
% teaspoon salt
Place egg yolks, sugar, mustard, vinegar, water and
salt in top of double boiler. Cook over hot water (not
boiling) stirring constantly until mixture thickens, 4-5
minutes. Blend in butter and horseradish. Cool thoroughly.
Chill Carnation in refrigerator tray until soft ice crystals
form around edges of tray (10 to 15 minutes). Whip until
stiff (1 minute). Add lemon juice. Whip until very stiff
(1 minute longer). Fold into egg mixture. Serve with
hot ham loaf or store in the refrigerator (remove 30
minutes before serving). ^
