A&T State Music Groups
Face Busy Concert Season
Two A&T State University
choir and Male Singers face
busy schedules prior to the
Christinas holiday.
The Male Singers, directed by
Howard T. Pearsall, will give
concerts in New York, New
Jersey and Virginia during a
tour Dec. 3-5. The university
choir will present its annual
Christmas concert in Harrison
Auditorium Sunday, Dec. 10, at
6 p. m.
The Male Singers' program
this year features compositions
by Beethoven, Brahms, Wagner
and Rogers, as well as arrange
ments of folk songs by Bartho
lomew, Gilliam and Dawson.
For its Christmas program,
the choir will perform several
major works, including "Canti
cle of the Martyrs," a selection
commissioned in commemora
tion of the 500th anniversary of
the Moravian Church; and
"Carol Fantasy," a composition
using familiar Christmas carols.
Other selections will include
familiar folk songs, anthems and
Negro spirituals. The choir solo
ists are Miss Barbara Cobb,
Gibsonville, N. C.; Miss Yvonne
Cooper, Monks Comer, S. C.,
and James Weston, Charleston,
S. C.
Student accompanists will be
Thomas Hager, Rockingham, N.
C., and Vincent Knight, Brook
lyn, N. Y. Organist will be F.
B. Abraham, a member of the
music faculty.
A&T Male Singers To
Open Concert Tour
The A&T State University
Male Singers, conducted by
Howard T. Pearsall, will pre
sent concerts in New York, New
Jersey and Virginia during a
brief tour December 3-5.
The Male Singers have been
active at A&T since the early
1950's, and have appeared in
major cities throughout the Eas
tern Seaboard.
The group's program this sea
son features compositions by
Beethoven, Brahams, Wagner
and Rogers, as well as arrange
ments of folk songs by Bartho
lomew, Gilliam and Dawson.

HOME DEMOLISHED
BY FIRE
The Warmoth T. Gibbs, Jr.
family of 1031 Pearson Street,
home was demolished by fire
early Wednesday morning, No
vember 29, 1967 between the
hour of S:00 and 4:00 a. m. Mr.
Gibbs, teacher at A&T Univer
sity, suffered severe injury try
ing to escape after he and his
wife, Mrs. Marie Gibbs brought
their six ehUuren to safety. Mr.
Gibbs il now In L. Richardson
Memorial Hospital. The Gfbbs
family Is now residing at- the'
home of Mr. Gibbs' father. Dr.
