State In Rain Princess Anne, Maryland ? A drizzling downpour put the damper on A&T's ground game, but didn't seem to hurt Mary land State's fullback and the Hawks knocked the Aggies from the ranks of the unbeaten, 9-6, here last Saturday. The two CIAA rivals slipped and slid to a scoreless first half, but the Hawks came alive late >n the third period when Den son, a 250-pound sophomore, circled his own right end, found his footing and raced 34 yards for a touchdown. Maryland State iced the win with a 29-yard field goal by Warner Robertson early in the final quarter. Although the Aggies had completely dominated play in the first half, they muffed an important scoring chance from their six-yard line late in the first period and didn't get on the scoreboard until seconds remained in the game. With 45 seconds remaining in the contest, A&T quarter back Stanley Jacobs threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Merle Code. Code the Aggie's defens ive safety, had gone into the the game as a tight end for the scoring play. The Aggies' score capped a desperation 80-yard drive and was set up by a brilliant 69 yard pass play from All-CIAA halfback Willie Pearson to end Daryle Cherry.
