John Henry King, Jr., 44 of 917 Dunbar Street, died Monday j of a heart attack enroute to a doctor's office. He was the manager of King's Esso Station at Asheboro Street and Benbow Road. He was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church. Surviving are 3 daughters, Misses Watina, Valerry and Sharron King, all of Detroit, Mich.; 1 son, John Victor King of Detroit, Mich.; parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Henry King, Sr., of Waycross, Ga., 2 sisters, Mrs. Eula Vereen of Greensboro, N. C., and Mrs. Nora Singleton of New York City; 4 brothers, Melvin King of New York City, William King of Detroit, Mich., Jerry King of Waycross, Ga., anrt Raymond King of Greens boro. N. C. Funeral services were held Wpdne=day at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Cecil Bishop, officiat ing. The body was shipped to Wavcross. Ga., where a second services were held on Friday at 4:00 P. M. from the Church of the Living God, and Interment was in Hazel Hill Cemetery. The family met with their friends Tuesday night at Har gett's Funeral Home from 7 to S. Hargett's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. MR. CTTLLIAM J. GREEN Mr. William J. Lewis, 7 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis, 2107 Windsor Street, who died Mon day in Moses Cone Memorial Hospital was held Wednesday, May 14, 4:00 P.M. at the Cot tage Grove Avenue Church of Christ. Bennett College Music Department To Be Host At Annual Conference Bennett College Music De partment will host the 8th an nual conference of the Inter collegiate Music Association on May 10th and 11th. Emphasis this year is on choral work and a feature of the conference will be two concerts, open to the public free of charge. Dr. Rich ard Cox, director of choral activ ities at UNC-G, will rehearse and conduct a special IMA chorus of 8 select singers from each member school on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. A recital of Faculty and Stu dents of the member colleges will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 7 p.m. Both programs will be in the Annie Merner Pf differ Chapel. Dr. F. Nathan- j iel Gatlin, chairman of the Mu sic Dept., of Va. State College, is president of the association. Other member colleges besides Bennett are: Livingston Col lege, Salisbury, N. C., Elizabeth City State, Elizabeth City, N. C., St. Augustine, Raleigh, N. C. The host committee includes: Mr. Edward Lowe-Chairman, Dr. Helen Trobian, Mrs. Mary Jane Crawford, Miss Lily Keleti, Mr. Benn Gibson, all members of Bennett's music faculty. Ground Breaking Ceremonies at New Goshen United Methodist Church On Sunday May 4, 1969 at 3:00 p.m., New Goshen United Methodist Church broke ground for a new sanctuary on the present church site on Randle man Road. The Minister, Rev. Busene Black, Trustees, Members and friends of the New Goshen Unit ed Methodist Church were de lighted to bestow the honor of the ceremony upon Mr. William Herbin, the oldest member of New Goshen United Methodist Church. Dr. E. C. Few, Retired and Former minister of West Market Street United Methodist Church gave an Inspiring and uplift ing message. The Trustees who were the pacesetters for the Building Fund Drive are: Messrs. Mon roe Alston, Irvin Donnell, Lacy Donnell, James Headen, Rubin Herbin, Alexander Kimber, Sr. and Oscar Williams. Dudley Art Club and Teacher' Honored by L. Richardson Hospital The members of The Art Club were honored for their work In decorating the windows of the 3rd floor of L. Richardson Me morial Hospital at Christmas time. This Is an annual project of the Art Clab, giving the clnb members an opportunity to share | their artistic talents with the community.
