During the week of June 16
20 the "Blitz Team" for Coca
Cola will be in Greensboro. The
Team is composed of Henry
Monroe, Raleigh, N. C.; Red
drick Martin, Columbia, S. C.;
Arthur Jarrett, Winston-Salem,
N. C. and Milton Gerald of
Greensboro. Each member is
employed by the Coca-Coca
Bottling firm in their respective
hometown. Mr. Martin and Mr.
Gerald are the "old pros", each
employed more than 5 years;
Mr. Monroe is next with 2 years
of employment and Mr. Jar
rett is the "rookie" with 8 weeks

The primary objectives of the
Coca-Cola ' Blitz Team" are as
follows: (1) To make an all out
efforv to call on as many retail
outlets possible, (2) Improve in
store advertising and (3) help
maintain and develop DroDer
image for Coca-Cola and it's |
allied products, such as, Sprite, .
Tab and Fresca.
100 YOUNG, TALENTED MUSICIANS TO ENROLL
IN A&T STATE UNIVERSITY SUMMER COURSE
A special institute in music
for high school and junior high
school students will highlight
the annual summer session at
A&T State University.
More than 100 students from
five states are expected to en
roll in music classes from June
30 to August 2.
Now in its seventh season, the
A&T institute has become one
of the most successful of its
kind for the training of young,
talented musicians.
Each of the youngsters is
given private instruction in
either band instruments, piano,
organ or voice. The institute
also Offers small classes and
seminars In music theory, lit
erature and appreciation.
Several times during the
summer, the students and the
institute faculty combine for re
citals or staged musical pro
ductions.
The summer program also
features several concerts by
student bands, choirs and en
sembles. Dr. Howard T. Pear
sall, chairman of the A&T Mu
sic Department and institute di
rectors, said that some new in
novations, including program
med teaching may be tried
during the institute this sum
mer.
Dr. Pear sail said that stu
dents who are interested in the
program are encouraged to ap
ply early. He said only a very
limited number of scholarship
grants are available this year.
Staff members for the insti
tute will be experienced high
school and college teachers from
all over the state. The regular
teaching program will be sup
plemented by guest professional
artists.
Shriner Of The Year
Noble C. A. Levette, Jr. was
elected Shriner of the Year of
Khalif Temple No. 144 AEA
ONMS. Noble Levette is the
Imperial Deputy of Oasis of
Greensboro and has served as
Potentate of Khalif Temple
during the year 1964-65. Among
other temple duties he serves
as Chairman of the Promotion
Committee, member of North
Carolina Gala Day Committee,
Vice Chairman of East-West
Shrine All Star football game,
member of the Drill Patrol, and
Creation Team.
He is also a Veteran of World
War II, member of Unibn Me
morial United Methodist
Church, Scoutmaster of Troop
No. 462, District Chairman of
Adult Leadership Training for

MR. POPE IRV1N
Mr. Pope Irvin, age 49 died
at Moses Cone Hospital Mon
day, June 9th following a brief
illness. He lived at 909 Cald
well Street.
Funeral service was held
Thursday, June 12th, 4:00 P.M.,
Brown's Funeral Home ChapeL
Rev. Cecil Bishop pastor of
Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church of
ficiated. Burial followed in
Piedmont Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Minassa Irvin of the home;
' one brother, Linton Irvin,
Greenwood, S. C.
The family received their
friends at the funeral home
Wednesday night from 7-9.

Mrs. Helena Fuller Moose,
age 43 died Friday, June 6th
following a brief illness.
Funeral service was held
Tuesday, June 10th, 3:00 P.M.,

Maplewood Cemetery.

The Methodist Men's Association of St. Matthews Methodist
Chnrch has announced that Dean Jimmie I. Barber of A&T State
University, recently elected to the Greensboro City Council, will
be the speaker at the 11:00 a.m. service on Father's Day, June IS,
1969. The pastor. Rev. Joseph Bethea, extends a cordial invitation
to all members and friends.
