A Prayer for TJiose Who Mourn The Colson Sc Faulkner families "God of compassion, who alone canst heal the broken hearted and save the crushed in spirit, most fervently we pray that all who mourn may know thy saving held in all its full ness. Help us with sensitive and tender hearts to share their sor row and to do the little things that may assure them of our deep concern and ease the pain ful stress of troubled days. Give to the hurt ones courage, Lord, according to thy promise, that they may not withdraw from life and spend their days In grieving memories. And help them in this confidence to seek out others who need the under standing sympathy that only grief can teach. Turn their thoughts, O Lord, from mourn ful dwelling on their sorrows and themselves, and grant that all our sorrows may be turned to joy in thee." Amen. Staff Photographer L. A. They have one thing in common: ser ious sickness or accident has caused them untold hardship. Some are ex-servicemen whose wounds disabled them. Some are workers who never missed a day of work until sickness or ac cident struck them down. Some are children whose father or mother suddenly became dis abled. Each receives a monthly disability check from Social Se curity. In emphasizing the disability provisions of social security to day, Charles H. Myers, Greens boro District Social Security Manager said: "When Social Se curity began nearly 35 years ago it was only a program for re tirement. But now it's a lot more than that. It has been improved to cover more and more in stances of unforseen catastrophe which strike the young as well as the old. Disability is just one of these instances. When you are talking about social security, you're talking about something to be counted on NOW. And when you're thinking about life time protection, you're thinking about social security." Myers urged individuals who have questions about various parts of the Social Security pro gram to contact the Social Se curity office to get proper and timely information. Asking a friend or neighbor who is a beneficiary for information about Social Security is not al ways wise because the facts in each case are not necessarily the same.
