J., | and Walter LaKusta, plant man Two Departments At NCCU Receive Grants Totaling $4,500 Two departments at North Ca rolina Central University receiv ed unrestricted grants from large industrial corporations last week. j The Department of Business and Economics received a $1,000 grant from Mobil Foundation, the charitable arm of Mobil Oil Corporation. Making the presen tation was R. J. Goode, Jr., area manager for Mobil Oil Corpora tion. A $3,000 unrestricted grant to the chemistry department at the university was made by the American Cyanamid Company. The presentation was made by Walter LaKusta, manager of American Cyanamid's Charlotte plant. The Chemistry Department also received $500 from the Cel anese Corporatin. The three grants were initi ated through contracts with the university's placement service. NCCU President Albert N. Whit ing said, "These gifts; made for a one-year period, would repre sent the income from at least $50,000 in endowments. We are very grateful to these compa nies for their confidence in ua and their interest in our pro gram, and we look forward to a continued close relationship with them. "We are especially grateful to the recruitment personnel of these companies, whose familiar ity with our program enabled them to support their sugges tions that these grants be made." Annual Union Easier Sunrise Service to be Held at Shiloh Baptist The annual Union Easter Ser vice sponsored by St. Matthews United Methodist, New Zion and Shiloh Baptist Church, will be held at Shiloh, Sunday at 6:00 a. m. The Rev. Joseph Be thea, pastor of St. Matthews, will deliver the Easter sermon, and music will be led by the Frances Cunningham Choir ol Shiloh, directed by Hiss Elaine C. Harrington. The annual breakfast will fol low the Sunrise Service, which will be sponsored by the Am maus Travelers ? Men's Club of the church. The morning Worship Service will be held at 11:00 a. m.
