BETHEL NEWS Missionary Society Conference j The Annual Session of the ! Western North Carolina Con ference Branch of the Missionary Society will meet June 9, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., at Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church, Pittsboro, N. C. The worship and commun ion service will be held at 10:00 A.M. All Missionaries and others are invited to attend this meet ing. Pictorial Directory The families of Bethel are re quested to make arrangements for their photographs for the Pictorial Directory at Bethel Church from 4-9 p.m. Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12, and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13. A commit tee of eight women has been formed to contact members by telephone. They are as follows ? Mrs. C. F. Gill, Chairman; Mrs. Aleece Faulkner, Mrs. Beatrice Goss, Mrs. Ruth Ellis, Mrs. Car rie Black, Mrs. Odessa Norris, Mrs. Marion Watson, and Mrs. Mamie Hooks. Appreciation Social Bethel Church is honoring Mrs. Emma Gunthrop and her helpers in the Nobility Rally held recently at thechurch. Mrs. Gunthrop reported the largest amount of money from her group for the Rally. The Appreciation Social will begin at 8:00 p.m. A1 members are invited. Children's Day Sunday, June 14, is Children's Day at Bethel Church. Our Pre siding Elder, Dr. C. C. Scott, will be the speaker at 11:00 a.m. At 4:00 p.m. the Children's Day Program will be presented by the Bethelites. Infants will be bap tized. The Annual Baby Contest sponsored by the Progressive Club will terminate at the end of the program. The public is cordially invited to attend. Quarterly Conference The Third Quarterly Confer- j ence of the Central District of the A.M.E. Church will con vene Monday, June 15, at 8 p.m. Reports are expected to be turn ed in by Wednesday, June 10. Father's Day On Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, the program will be sponsored by the Scholarship Fund Cub of the church. "Honor Thy Father" by calling any member of the Scholarship Fund Club and have your loved one's name appear on the souvenir program. Do this today! Anniversary Observance Members of the Senior Usher Board of Bethel Church will observe their 58th Anniversary Sunday, June 21 at 4:00 p.m. The Reverend Marion Jones, pastor of Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church will be the speaker. Rev. Jones will be accompanied by the choir, ushers and the con gregation of Wesley Church. A cordial invitation is extended to all. Mrs. Jacqueline Carver McMillan, a native of Elizabeth City, N. C., receives degree from Dr. Lewis C. Dowdy, president of A&T State University. Mrs. McMillan, oneof 500 graduates, is employed in the University's Office of Planning and Development. DEATHS AND FUNERALS MISS EVELYN BOOKER Miss Evelyn Leatrice Booker, age 43, formerly of 815 Cottage Grove Avenue died in Washing ton, D. C. Sunday May 31st fol lowing a brief illness. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 6th, at 4:00 p.m. in Brown's Funeral Home Chap el. Burial will follow in Maple wood Cemetery. The family will meet their friends at the Funeral Home Friday evening from 7-9. Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Booker of Greensboro; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Doerr and Mrs. Geneva Mid dlebrook, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Miss Constance Booker, Wash ington, D. C. Brown's F' neral Directors in charge of arrangements. MR. EDWARD GRAY Mr. Edward Gray, age 36, of 754 Gilles Court died Sunday, May 31, 1970 at L. Richardson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 1970, at 4:00 p.m. from Hargett's Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow on the I Veteran's Plot in MaplewoOd | Cemetery with full Military Rites. j Reverend O. L. Hairston, the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church will officiate. The family wil meet their friends at Hargett's Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening from 7-9. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lydia F. Gray of the home; seven daughters, Misses Barbara, Janice and Lorraine Gray, all of Spartanburg, S. C., Misses Miqiel, Lisa, Chrisie and Ed wania Gray, all of the home; mother, Mrs. Mamie Gray of Spartanburg, S. C.; four sisters, and four brothers.
