Admission: 15c. and 25c. Rev. C. W. Russell made a splendid talk on The Factors of Success at Chapel on Tuesday morning, Janu ary 15. FARM NEWS A meeting was held at Sparta on Monday of this week to discuss the Burley Tobacco Acreage reduction in this county. Practically every tobacco grower in the county who attended this meeting signed the tobacco re duction contract. These Burley Tobacco reduction contracts are in the County Agent’s j ! office now, and any tobacco grower can get these contracts at any time. Every tobacco grower in the county should investigate the Burley Toba cco contracts and decide for himself whether it will be to his advantage to sign them. 1 think that every Burley Tobacco grower in the county should sign this contract, regardless of the a mount of tabocco he is growing. MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS The December meeting' of the La dies Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. A. V. Choate. The house was vehy artistically de corated for Christmas. Mrs. T. J. Carson presidid in the absence of the President, Mrs. J. T. Inskeep, and a very interesting Christ mas program on Japan was given with Mrs. Carson as leader. After the prowram the hostess, assisted by her two attractive little daughters, served a delicious plate with a tiny candle burning, sugges tive of the Christmas season to twelve members and one visitor, Mrs. Z. Osborne. The January meeting will be held with Mrs. C. W. Higgins with Mrs. Cloy Winkler as leader. Birthday Dinners at Stratford Sunday the 7th of January some of the friends of Hon. W. E. Cox surprised him with a birthday dinner. A bountiful dinner was spread and a cake placed on the table with eigh ty one candles. - Mr. Cox demonstrates to the neigh bors how to make a comfortable liv ing on the farm at the age of eighty one and has come through the de pression owing no man anything. The friends of Mr. Elias Spurlin the week before had a birthday dinne set for him. Mr. Spurlin celebrated his eighty-second bithday and is re markably spry for a man of his age. Miss Ruth Watson, who has been ill for two weeks, is improving. Mr. Porter Ray Watson visited' his Aunt Mrs. Walter Watson, and Mrs. L. V. Anderson over the weekend.
