By virtue of an execution di rected to the undersigned from the Superior Court of Alleghany County in the above entitled acti on, I will on Monday the 7 day of October, 1940, at 1 o’clock P. M., at the court house door of said county, sell to the highest bidder for cash to satisfy said ex ecution, all right, title and in terest which the said Lester Os borne and Inez Osborne, the de fendants, have in the following described real estate, to wit: Lying and being in Prathers Creek Township, Alleghany Coun ty, North Carolina, adjoining the lands of Wm, Black, O. R. Black (or lands formerly owned by them) and Others, known as the John Huffman old homa place, containing 23 acres, more or leas, bounded as follows: BEGINNING on a white oak on the North of Bakers Ridge, on a spar of said Ridge, and runs thence West 78 H poles to a stake in the old O. Bryan Sheriff. 4tc—3: Stratford Stratford, Oct. 1.—Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Moxley, former Alle ghanians, who now live in Mary land, accompanied by Mrs. Mox Iey’s aunt and uncle, Mr. Bob and Miss Annie Warden, of near Elk Creek Church, stopped here for a brief visit with old friends one day last week. Mrs. Pauline Grant and little daughter, Doris, from Chester, Pa., are visiting Mrs. Grant’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mabe. Miss Helen Patterson and brother, Robert Patterson, of Coatesville, Pa., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rector, of this place. O. M. Richardson of this place has installed an up-to-date cane mill at his home. He uses his waterpower by attaching a pulley to the mill wheel to grind the cane, and has built a tall chim ney for his furnace. He has an extra large evaporator, well cov ered, and no need to say the molasses are extra fine. The loads of cane arriving daily makes one think that we are going to have molasses for everyone. Bower Watson is recuperating at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ess Caudill neaT here. Misses Imogene and Anna Ruth Richardson, who are, attending Phiffers College, spent the week end with homefolks here. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Fender attended the baptizing at Roans Greek, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs Jess Sexton visit ed at Edgar Mabe’s Sunday night. Reedy Estep is again very sick. We were pleased to have with us one day last week for a short visit our former mail earner, Walter Taylor, of Glade Valley. Mt. Zion Piney Creek P. O., Sept. 30.— Mrs. Joe Hartley, of Linville, spent the week-end with her son, Jack Caudill, of Piney Creek. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Maxwell, of Sparta, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Pugh Sunday morning and attended the baptismal service Sunday afternoon. Rev. W. H. Caldwell, of In dependence, delivered an inter esting sermon to a large congre gation at Mt. Zion Sunday morn ing. , Rev. R. L. Billings and daugh ter, Carolyn, Mr. and Mrs. George Pugh, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Ed wards, Lee Black and Clay Smith attended the quarterly confer ence at Nathans Creek Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Pugh had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Moxley and daughter, Lorene, Charlie Black, Lee Black, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, Doris Jones and Jean Absher. Rev W. H.
