Twin Oaks Twin Oaks, Dec. 16.—Paul Reed and Claude Sexton, of Dan ville,' Va., spent the week-end ■with relatives here. Uncle Calloway Cox, who has been very ill for sometime, does n’t improve. Don Osborne, Peek Creek, and Gilbert Osborne were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Sexton. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Jones vis ited Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Sexton and Mr. and Mrs. Rheuben Sheet, Sunday. Nile Nile, Dec. 16.—Charlie Dixon, Galax, who has been visiting friends in this community for sev eral days, returned home last Wednesday. Zion, Dec. 16.—Mr. and Mrs. Cole Parsons and son, James Johnson, of Whitehead, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parsons re-' cently. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Moxley and ; daughter, Lorene and Velma I Pugh, all of Topia, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Pugh Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Pugh, Paul Cox, Mrs. George F. Smith, Mrs. H. C. Smith and children, Edna Rae and Howard, Georgie Cox 1 and Thomas Smith were shopping in West Jefferson Saturday. Eula Parsons, of Sparta, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parsons and attended the league at Mt. Zion Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Smith and daughter, Edna Rae, and Dent Pugh, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Douglas. J. F. Shepherd visited Mrs. Mary Cox, Sunday afternoon. Claude J. Smith, of Wells, Nevada, and formerly of Mt. Zion community spent the past week with relatives in Idaho. He had planned to spend Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Smith, but Uncle Sam has called him into training, so he cannot return to Alleghany I County for Christmas. Rev. R. L. Billings from Rad ford, Va., spent the week-end with his family here. There will be a Christmas tree at Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Friday night, December 20th, at seven o’clock. A Christmas Pageant, “Follow The Star,” will be given by the young people of the community. Edwards X Roads Edwards X Roads, Dec. 16.— The nice warm days the past week have been very enjoyable. Mrs. Joe Larue has been ill for several days. Jessie S. Larue made a busi ness trip to Galax Wednesday. Walter Higgins and family have moved to the farm of Mrs. Sal lie Joines. Misses Bettie and Ruby Lee Joines were home for the week end. Cleve Reeves, Mrs. Etta Reeves and Mrs. Phebe Rector, of Sparta, visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Rector last Friday. Miss Ila Mooney spent last Saturday night with Mrs. Dock Halsey.
