week.

Mrs. George McKinley, of
Waynesville, returned Sunday af
ter a few days visit with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M.
Cheek. Mr. and Mrs. 3. M. Cheek,
Jr., of Mount Airy and Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Cheek and daughter
were dinner guests there Sunday.
Mrs. Luther Edwards and
daughter, Beulah, spent a few
days last week with Mrs. Ralph
Evans.
Mrs. Felix Hinshaw went to
Wilkes hospital one day recently
for treatment.
Rev. W. H. Caldwell has just
moved with his family to Sparta
and they are occupying the house
above Paul Reeves’ place beyond
Edwin Duncan’s. Mr. Caldwell
will have charge of the New
Hope and Scottville Baptist
churches, as also one in Ashe
county. Rev. Mr. Caldwell has
been preaching in Grayson coun
ty prior to coming here.

Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy
in the early part of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Thompson,
of Glade Valley, who have been
wintering in Florida, are retufh
ing to their home this week-end.
They will be accompanied by
Miss Clarice, their daughter, who
teaches in the eastern part of the
state. She will spend the Easter
holidays with her parents.
Jim Maines is happy to be at
home again after seven weeks
spent in the hospital.

Charlie Blevins, who has been
away in Wilkes hospital for a i
time, is home again and gradually
improving in health.

er and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kel
vin, all from Raleigh, spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Spicer at Cherry Lane,
and while there drove out to en
joy some of the 30 miles of the
beautiful Parkway Drive in Al
leghany county. Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Woodruff, of Sparta, also
visited in the same home on Sun
day.
Pete Redolfl is back with us
again after spending two months
in New York and New Jersey.

Barker in Elkin last Saturday.
Mrs. Myra Cutshall, sister of
R. G. Warden, and her son, Earl
Semans, of Gordon, Nebraska,
who have been visiting; friends
and relatives in Alleghany coun
ty for a time, left yesterday on
their journey homeward. They go
by way of Washington, D. C.
where they plan to stop for a
few days to become better ac
quainted with the beauties of the
nation’s capital.
