Pear pie outlined below is no ordi
nary pie, either—and Its smooth ap
peal to youngsters nnd oldsters
alike ha* been proved many times!
PEAR PIE
% cup sugar
hi teaspoon salt
SH tablespoon* flour
1 cups milk
H cup pear Juice
1 «*e«
2 teaspoons butter
% teaspoon vanilla
1 baked pie shell
C cooked or canned pear halve*
Jelly
Whipped cream
Mi* sugar. salt and flour in •
double boiler. Add the milk and
pear Juice gradually and cook, stir
ring constantly for 3 to 5 minutes or
until thickened Cover and cook for
10 minutes longer. Add a little of
this mliture to the slightly beat**
egg. ml* well and return to tile
double boiler. Cook for a minute
looser, stirring constantly. Add the
butter and vanilla and stir until tbo
butter Is melted. Cool slightly and
pour Into the pie shell. When cool
arrange pear halves on top with
stem ends toward (ho center and
cut sides up. Place a little Jelly la
the hollowed out part of the pear.
Outline the pears with the whipped
cream (sweetened and flavored It
desired) put through a pastry tshe
This makes a 9 Inch pie.
