Many of the returned veterans have expressed their appreciation. The Club has entertained many service men from time to time, and had fifty present at the meeting on October 25th. The Club has assisted in raising Kings Mountain's quota of 270 Christmas presents for hospitalisation service men. "Vocation Guidance questionnaires given to students of the High 8chool from whieh information was gathered to ascertain their preferences for vocations. On the basis of this analysis speakers were secured to address them on the various phases of work in which they were interested. Diagnostic tests were given the High School Seniors to assist them in selecting the vocation for whieh they were best fitted. Motion pictures were shown demonstrating certain lines of mlBvffteturing operations to aid them in their selection. "Under dlrectiod of the Public Affairs Committee every member of the Club has been interested and nas assisted in securing a civilian hospital for the town of Kings Mountain. The effort is putting into practice the "Golden Bule." "Outdoor picnie meetings were held during tht summer as much as possible under war conditions. The meeting with the farmers of the Bethwaiw Schqol and surrounding section' was of great benefit in fostering good relationships between the business men and farmers. The first alarm was turned in about 1:20 Friday afternoon. The fire men extinguished the blare, resulting according to Fire Chief Grady King from ignition of greased rags in the interior of the gin. This fire resulted in several hundred dollars in damagei to belts and machinery. The seeond alarm was turned in at 5:30. Mr. Kings said that it started from burning embers left from thi first blaze.
