Dne of the greatest problems in tl nmunity now is the housing shoi e. During the past year the local Employment Service has bad ge volume of activity as is sho? the following data: rhe number of persons appearl the Kings Mountain U. 8. The last three month^ of i9 w a rapid decline in job openinf great deal of this drop was due i lifting of all hiring restrictio 1 also to the fact that worke re more inclined to "stick" sir jobs, fearing that the demai workers would not be so great ring the peak of war productioc During January 1946 the local c e had 635 reception contacts?4 these contacts were by perso iking employment. 415 of the co its were by veterans of W. Soi ve had to refuse job* because using or transportation could irked out. The housing situation has also i :ted -non-veteran workers and lo< ints are experiencing difficulty ling jobs due to this condition. In spite of the large number > seekers, the local office has h very small number of claims f lemployment Compensation.
