Benson, teacher, on Friday night. The meeting rooms were arranged with bowls of spring flowers in artistic arrangements. UDO Presents Historical Volume To Public Library Mr*. P. D. Herndon, aiaiated by Mr*. M. Av Ware, waa hosteaa on Wedneday afternoon when the United Daughters of the Confederacy met at the -Herndon home. The meeting room* were lovely with numerous artistic arrangements of spring flowers and fruit blossoms. Mrs. E". B. Olive, president, presided over the usual business. The meeting waa then turned over to Mrs L. L. Benson, past president. During Mrs. Benson's presidency, the UDC voted to buy a volume of hooks for the Public Library. The books were presented by Mrs. Benson to Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Library board chairman, who waa invited to thia meeting to receive them. The volume is "The Rise and Fall of the Confederacy." a set of very valuable and interesting books. In the absence of Mrs. E. A. Shenk program chairman, Mrs. Bill Howard presented facts on the life of a late Confederate veteran. Mrs. Herndon and Mrs. Ware served a delieion^ dessert coarse near the conclusion of the meeting.
