" -I llSiMili"'1 I Bum wnc BVCMf OT^pe II ll THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HE1 Twenty-Two Cases Tried In Court Twenty-two cases were tried in regular weekly session of City Recorders court held at City Hall Monday, Dec. 15. as the tenor of cases tried indicated nearness of Christmas holidays. The number of cases tried almost doubled the number of the previous week, with slightly more man two-thirds of the Dec. 15 convictions involving cases of public drunkenness. Judge O. C. O'Fa-rell presided. The Dec. 15 docket brings the total for the month to 45 as compared ! with 58 for the same period in 1946. j However, 42 of the 58 total for 1946, or almost three-fourth, were listed as public drunkenness convictions. So far this December only 27 of the 45 cases tTied, sixty percent, involved public drunk charges. The case involving Lewis Lester Baker, of Shelby, charged with driving drunk, \\as sent tq Cleveland county Recorder court for trial by jury after attorney for the defendant, C. C. Horn, of Shelby, requested jury trial. Jessie Jones, charged with abandonment and non-support, was sentenced two years on the roads, suspended provided he go to work and contribute properly to the support of his wife and children and pay costs of court. Albert Hayes, of Dallas, was fined $10 and costs after conviction on charges of public drunkenness and illegal possession of one pint of non-tax paid whiskey. M. S. Calahan, of Spartanburg, S. C., forfeited a $25 appearance bond on charge of illegal possession of one pint taxpaid whiskey. A. B. Barrett paid a $10 fine plus costs for conviction on charge of assault with a deadly weapon. In cases involving violation of motor vehicle laws George Ivey, of Charlotte, paid $10 and costs for j speeding; Albert Hugh Pridgen, of Anniston, Ala., paid $10 and costs for speeding; Lloyd Anderson Bar- | rett.of Gastonia, paid costs for driving without a chauffeurs license; and Ira Whiteside of Clover, S. C., paid costs for driving without a drivers license.
