Editor Churchwomen Council Sponsor Joint Study At the First Presbyterian church on Monday, Jan. 12, the Kings Moun tain Council of Churchwomen sponsored their first joint Mission Study at which sessions the book, "Committed Unto US" by Wiilis Lamott was studied. The Council \vas fortunate in .obtaining s their speaker, Mrs. T. Ansel J Putnam of Greenville, S C., Mrs. Putnam, who holds the important office of vjce-president of the Women's Synodlcal Missionary Union of the Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, presented the evange iistic study in a most interesting manner. She ascertained through her discussion that if the church of today is to survive, its members must discover the,church within the church. The churches must unite as never before as they go forward together to face home problems as well as world problems. Todayi the church is challenged through World Evangelism. A good numbei attended each of the sessions. The afternoon session began as 3 o'clock. Mrs. E. A. Shenk, piesident of the local.Council, gave the scripture reading followed with prayer by Mrs. E. W. Griffin. The welcoming statements were said by Mrs. P. D. Patrick and Mrs. Shenk. The ' speaker was introduced by Mrs. W. L. Pressly. At 6 o'clock a covered dish supper was served in the Fellowship Hall of the church, after which the evening session convened at 7 o'clock in the sanctuary. With Mrs. Paul Mauney at the piano, Mrs. L. C. Pinnix sang "how Long Must WcWalt" which opened ?i>v vvcaaaaig liiccuji^;. ' Mrs. O. W. Myers, speaking for the Council of Churchwomen of Kings Mountain, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Putnam for her having presented so impressively the first of the Council unified srtudies. Mrs. Mauney Hostess To Club Members Mrs. D. C. Mauney was hostess at the Kings Mountain Country Club last Friday afternoon to members of the Rook club and the Social club. The private dining room,- wture six tables were arranged for play, was attractively decorated with tendrils of ivy and evergreens in pretty arrangements. At the conclusion of play, a de lectable salad course, sweets and nuts was served. A guest at refreshment time was Mrs. Pearl Adair of Martin, Ga., sister and house guest of Mrs: J. R. Davis Mrs. Parton Hostess To Methodist' Circle Mrs. Lynwood Parton was hostess on Tuesday evening to members and guests of circle number four of the I W9CS of Central Methodist church. The bride is a graduate of Bethware high school and prior to her wedding was employed at the First National bank, here. The bridegroom also a graduate of Bethware high school, has been employed for some time in Washington, D. C. Senior Club Will See Travelogue Film Members of the Senior Woman's Club have a special treat in store when they gather at the.club house Friday evening at 7:30 for their meeting of the month.
