The Lenten period has long been observed by the church as a time of special season of repentance and meditation on the passion and sufferings of our Saviout Jesus Christ. It is a period of forty days of concentration of the special atoneing-word of Christ as our Redeemer, and the effects of His death on the cross for sinful men. The Lerttcn Season will be observed in the St. Matthew's Lutheran church, beginning Wednesday evening, February 11 at 7:30 p. m? with a special Communion Services. Services will be held regularly each Sunday morning, Sunday evdnings and Wednesuay evenings during the Holy Season. Morning prayer will be held each Wednesday at 8:30 a. m. The Lenten season culminates with Holy Week, during which time services will be held each evening at 7:30 p. m.. Monday through Thurs day. On Friday, Good Friday, March 26, the special three hour service commemorating the death of Jesus on the Cross will be held front 12:00 noon to 3:00 p. m.
