few days this week with the Timber lakes

Ralph Metzger of Philadelphia who
are enroute from Florida to their

Commemoration Party i
The Women's Missionary Union of
the First Baptist chucch entertained
at two mrtles last Friday, given in

Southern Baptist Convention.
Guests were women of the church
and the parties were at 3:30 and
7:30 p. m. A-large number attended
at each hour.''
After being greeted at the side en
trance, guests were directed to the
upstairs hall where they were invi-N
ted to sign the register before beingj
introduced to Mrs. Byron Keeter,
WMS president, and the circle chairmen.
The program was presented in the
T. E. L. and Eunice classrooms which
.. were thrown ensuite for the occasion.
After the devotional service, a
pseudo Doctor I. Q. presented a
quiz, theanswers showing the aims
of the organization, the progress
made during the past sixty years
; and the plans for this year of commemoration.
Rev. and Mrs- U. C. Pinnix
sang a duet and to conclude the
program, the guests joined in singing
several songs.
The meeting rooms looked unusually
pretty with decorations in the
Valentine motjf. Red and white flow
ers were arranged effectively in all
the'rooms and the dining room,
where guests were served dough-J
nuts, tea and mints, was lighted

table was covered with a handsome

Initial Club Night
Held Last Saturday
"Club Night" was initiated at the
Kings Mountain Country Club 1? *,t
Saturday night when around eighty
guests, including members, their
wives and guests, many from other
towns, gat here for an enjoyable
evening of dining, dancing and card
playing.
M.tenolia leaves, candies and evergr
-cns in pretty groupings were
used throughout the clubhouse to
add a cheerful decorative note.
Dinner was served buffet style and
afterwards, guests had their choice
of dancing in the main dining room
or playing cards in the private dining
room and the upstairs card
rooms.
The social committee, who are
formulating plans for future Tlub
Nights," were encouraged by the
number attending the inaugural affair
and hope to make an UmMMcmerrt
in the near future as to the

To Meet Next Week
Members of the Senior Woman's
'.Clyb will meet at the clubhouse at
7:30 on the evening of February 20
5 at which time the hostess committee
will be composed of Mesdames J. K.
Willis, P. D. Patrick, Charles Murphy,
Paul Mauney, I. G. Patterson
and E. A. Shenk.
s Mrs W. T. Weir, chairman of the
International Relations committee,
will present the program which will
be an introduction and explanation
of The World 'Organization of Mothers
of Ail Nations to End War. After
the introduc.tion and explanation
of the purposes of the organization,
a Woman's Manifesto, written by
Dorothy Thompson will be given and
the demands of the organization will
be outliped.
Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, president of
the club, in announcing the meeting
date said, "I want to urge all members
to be present to hear this program
on Peace and what we, as women,
can do to insure peace for the
World." '
