Mrs. Johnsie Kibler Rainey died
Ot her home, in Kings Mountain Wed j
nesday, Feb'. 4. after a long illness.
The funeral was held at Good Hope j
Presbyterian church Sunday after-|
non. The eulogy was by the Rev. S.
C. Vanlandingham, a former pastor
of th? church. The funeral arrangements
were by the Dockery Home of
Funeral of Shelby. Mrs. Rainey is
survived .by her husband, Wilfiam
Rainey, two sons, Wiliam C., and ).
Austin, and one daughter, Odessa,
mother, five brothers and three sisters.

Charlie Kibler, of Detroit, is spend
ing a fetv days visiting Wis mother
and relatives here, having Come
home for the funeral of his sister,
Mrs. Johnsie Rainey.
The Boy Scout campaign and financial
drive is being carried on
from Feb. I to 16. Everyone is asked
for his liberal support.
The Davidson school basketball
teams played Green Bethel teams
of Boiling Springs Thursday night
Feb. 5. The Davidson girls team won
with a great margin, the Davidson
hoys were defeated. The games were
played at Boiling Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mitchem of
Winston-Salem were seen in Kings
Mountain last week end.
Mr. Alfred Wright is still in the
Shalby hospital. His condition is im
proving somewhat. Mrs. Mary . Adams,
Mrs. Geneva Caroll, and several
others are on the sick list.
Relatively large stocks of 795 mil
lion bushels of wheat werh stored in
ail positions January 1, 1948, despite
near-record disappearnce since July
1, 1947. Rye Stocks of- 14.4 million,
bushels, though relatively small,
were larger than on January - in
the 2 preceding years, according to >

last Saurday night due to unfavorable
weather conditions. First round
games were not well attended due
to bad weather.
