be elected each biennlum in the
same manner in which city council
members are elected.
Both charters provide that council
members shall he paid $120 per
year, the mayor $6u0 per year.
Other major difference between
the councii-mayor-manager charter
and the council-mayor charter will
be found in Charter "B" which, under
the mayor form, provides that
the mayor shall appoint individual
council members to head particular
city departments. Thus, for example,
one council member would be commissioner
of fire and police depart- 1
ments, and would be responsible for
the proper functioning of these !
departments. Under Charter "A" the |
city manager would be resDonsible
for all departments and would, in
turn, be responsible to the mayor
and city council. '
Citizens are being urged to attend
the public hearing scheduled
for City Hall the night of August
16th, and to make suggestions and
criticisms regarding the two charters
to be offered.
