THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HER Lutheran Youths Save Program The Children of the Church of St. rlatthew's Lutheran church presen-. ed a public program at. the Sunday ISchool .hour on Sunday morning. i'ov. .7, under the direction of the | ecretary, Mrs. Wm. H. Srender. The Children of the Church is a >art ot tne Kdttcattonal program of he church. Meeting during the week he children receive additional induction in the Bitile. Enlisted Ex-GI'S Now Ottered Commissions In order to build up the reserve . omponcnts of the United Sraton Army, qualified former servicemen Aith at least a year's.prior service in Ihe Army, Navy, Coast Guard or Marines are being offered direct commissions as Second Lieutenants in the Officers' Reserve Corps with the guarantee of two years imrhediate active duty with the Regular Arms M-Sgt. R. V. Kennedy, commanding officer of ahe Shelby Army and Air Force- Recruiting Station states these commissions will be given in many branches of service including the Infantry Field Artillery, Calvary or anti-aircraft and Guided Missiles He also announced that applications for these commissions will be processed through the local recruiting station. Qualifications requirements for ap plication for Secon Lieutenant's com mission in the Reserve are as follows: male citizen of the United Sta tes, between the ages of 19 and 31 years, inclusive, one year of previous military service in one of the armed forces, physically fit, two years of college tfaining, a score of 110 or higher on the Army General Clas sification test, and willingness to accept active duty for not less than two years at the time of commissioning. Sergeant Kennedy said the Army does not desire to interrupt any young.man's education, so will not grant a commission to any man cur rentiy attending college or who is due to be attending college at the time of his commissioning. Lespedeza production on farms in the United States is being increased with two new varieties, Kobe and Climax.
