Editor PHONE 167 1 Accorded Courtesy With Bridge Party ?Delightful In appointment was the Bridge pa<--.y given Tuesday night when Mrs. Contvan Falls entertain ed the Tuesday Nigh i Bridge club honoring one of the club members, Mrs. Harry Page, on her birthday. Sharing honors With Mrs. Page was Aliss Je'Anne Griffin, bride-eioct. Saint Patrick's colors were motif for the party details.: Covers were laid when guests arrived and a J tempting spagetti dinner was serv ed. A large birthday cake ioed in green and ccrtered with a minia ture bouquet of jonquils and baby breath was brqught in and then ser ved. When covers were removed sever al progressions of bridge ensued. Score prizes went to Mrs. W. L. Ram seur and Mrs. Harry Page. , The hostess also remembered the honoree's with gifts. Those playing other than club members, Miss Je'Anne Griffin, an honoree, Miss Marion Arthur, Mrs. C. F. Thomasson, Jr., Mrs. Humes Houston, and Mrs, Carl Weisener. Pauline Club Met Tuesday Night Fourteen members were present Tuesday night for the monthly meet ing of the Pauline Community club. "Bless Be The Tie That Binds" was iung to open the meeting, each mem ber quoted a verse of scripture, Mrs. Jack Hul lender led in prayer. The business discussion was pre sided over by We president, Mrs. Earl Ledford. M?ss Blalock Honored With Pre-Nuptial Party A pre- nuptial courtesy was shown Miss Joe Ann Blalock-, Monday night when Miss Charlotte Jenkins enter tained at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jenkins. Bowls of white snapdragons, iris, and baby breath were used to deco rate the party rooms. The amusements for the evening consisted in bridal games and con gests with prizes going to the win ners. The hostess assisted by an aunt, Mrs. Fred Babington, Judy and Becky Babington and Miss Sybil B!a lock served molded ioe cream, indi vidual cakes iced in green and white green and white mints, asorted nuts and punch. ? After the period of entertainment Miss Blalock received a shower of lingerie. UDC Meets At Home Of Mrs. L. L. Benson Mrs. L. L. Benson and Mrs. H. T. Fulton, Sr., were hostesses last Fri day afternoon at the regular meet ing of the U. D. C. at the home of Mrs. Benson. . Mixed spring blossoms were used in the living room. Mrs. M. A. The engagement of Miss Chloe Lynn, shown above, to Charles Herman Sparks of Cliffslde is being announced by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. 3. Lynn. Mr. Sparks is the son of Mi. and Mrs. R. L. Sparks of Clillside. The wedding will take place April 16 at the hsu.u of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Blalock entertained at a cake cutting at their home on Mountain street, Wed nesday night after the rehearsal for the wedding of their daughter. Miss Joe Ann Blalock and Donald Craw ford. The living room was artistically ar ranged with bowls of white snap dragons and fern a color note of green and white was dominant in the decorations throughout the house. ' A lace cloth covered the refresh ment table iand a pretty three-tiered wedding cake in all white topped with a miniature bride and groom surrounded with white roses occupi ed the center of the table, flanked on either side with- silver candeia bras holding lighted white tapers. Aftertlie firsj Slice of cake had been cut by the bride-elect, Miss Pic. cola Blalock cut and served the cake assisted by Mrs. E. K. Whitener. On the serving table from a large Crystal bowl banked with fern end white flowers punch was served by Mesdames, Robert Early, Kenneth Pruitt and Miss Kay Cole. Fancy mints and mixed nuts were passed. The lovely and useful gifts were in the <Jen. Music was furnished by Mrs. L. C. Pinnix. Guests included th? bridal party members of the families am| a few close friends. KEETER'S Gleaner's Class Met At Woman's Club The monthly meeting of the Glean ers Class of the First Baptist church was held in the Woman's Club house Monday night. This was the pay-off meeting for the contest of the class. The losing group captains, Miss Mary McGili, Mrs. Eugene Matthews and Mrs. Rufus Oates, with mem- j bers of their groups entertained the j winning grotips. Mrs. J. B. Fails, president, of the class presided over the business, j then Mrs. Howard Ware, leader forj the night, led In games ahd contests. The hostesses served a delicious' salad and sweet course with coffee. Thirty ladies enjoyed the meeting. Basketball Team Enjoy Dinner Meeting The members of the Kings Moun tain High School Basketball team their coaches, Don Parker, and Ev erett Carlton were delightfully en tertained by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mau nCy at their home on Monday night. A profusion of spring flowers were used in decorating the living room and den.
