SOCIAL AND PERSONAL HAPPENINGS of INTEREST to WOMEN MRS. P. D. HERN DON. Editor PHONE 167 Interesting Meeting WOW Officers Club The officers club of the W. O. W. ?net Saturday February 26th. Miss Blanch Aiken of Charlotte, National Director and Mate overseer, presid ed over the meeting. Mrs. Genell Pkttman, president of Kings Moun tain Grove 146 gave the address of welcome. The response was given by the chaplain of the Shelby Grove. Mrs, Lou V. Morehead, district man ager read the minutes of the last meeting. Officers for th year were elected. The next mating will be held in Shelby sometime in June. A large crowd from the defferent groves in the district attended this meeting. , . Jonquils, ivy and Japanese tulips were used todecorate the hall. Dur ing the social hour refreshments were served. Prizes were given Mrs. Pittman end Mrs. Roh Brney for securing the most new members since last meet ing. Birthday Dinner Honors Jack Clark Paying a charming compliment to her husband Jack Clark, who was celebrating his birthday Sunday, March 6, Mrs. Clark served a delici ous three- course dinner to Mr. and Mrs. J. B Bell and son, Bill, of Gro ver, Mr. and Mrs. James Bell. l<ovely vases of spring flowers were used as decorations. J. B. Simpson's Fete Bid And Bye Club *?? Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Simpson mom delightfully entertained members Of the Bid and Bye Club on Saturday I flight. Tables were apponted for re- 1 freshments on the guests arrival and a very tempting desseit course was served. Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Sr., and Mrs. W. K Mauney, Jr, were invited to play with the club members High score prize was presented Mrs. George Houser, second high went to J. B. Simpson. Mixed spring flowers were used in the living room. Gastonia Bridge Club With Mrs. S. O. Davis Delightful in appointment was the dessert -bridge given Wednesday night when Mrs. Sam Davis enter tained members of her bridge club from -Gastonia. Grouped amid a setting of beauti fully arranged spring flowers three tables were in play. Invited to play ot he- than Club members, Mrs. Allen Julien, of Larchmont, N. Y., house guest of Mrs. Paul Neisler, Mrs. H. R. Neisler, Mrs H. S. Blackmer, Mrs W K. Mauney, Jr., and Mrs. Paul Neisler When scores were tallied Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Jr., was high, Mrs Jul ien was also remembered with a gift. Little Susan Davis Honored On Birthday Mrs. Sam Davis entertained the pupils of the Jack and Jill Kinder garten last Friday morning at the Kindergarten on Waco Road. The party wa,s given in honor o t her lit tle daughter, Susan, who was cele brating her fifth birthday anniver sary. Alter a short play period Mrs. Da vis brought in the beautifully deco> rated birthday cake with five light ed candles. The children sang "Hap py Birthday" to Su9an after which she made a wish and blew out her candles. j The hostess, assisted by Mrs. George Houser and Mrs. M. C. Pos ton served each child an attractive Easter plate of ice cream, cake, orange Juice and bubble gum. Stuan opened her many beautiful gifts after which srhe gave each child, a favor. For the girls she had Jump ropes and for the boys, yo yos. The children who enjoyed the party were: Becky Bowers, Jlmmie Cranford, Jane Hambright, Char lotte Harril, Paula Hehn, Yvonne Hehn, Beth Houser, Brenda Gail ! Hamrick, Edith Jane Kincaid, Pa-i tricia Pennington, Lynda Parton, Carolyn Pinnlx, Joyce Plonk, Billy Ram^eur, James Robbs, Lee Settle- , myre, Von Settlemyre, Ann Settle-; myre, Linda Wilson, Stevie White , and Marliene Weir. Duplicate Bridge With Mrs. G. B. Riley Mrs. Gordon Riley entertained members of ihe Duplicate Bridge Club and four invited guests with a , dessert bridge Monday evening. The rooms were beautifully decorated with a variety of spring flowers. Guests for the evening were Mrs. Jacob Cooper, .Mrs. Garland Still, Mrs". Paul Neisler, Mrs. Jack Day, and Mrs. H. E. Lynch. Mrs. James Simpson and Mrs. Fred Plonk won high score prize. i MYF Have Program On Right Thinking Seniors of the Methodist Youth Fellowship met Sunday evening for a program on "How Can 1 Know. What Is Right in My Thinking?" led by Walter Grif/in and Jo Ann Hayes. Next Sunday evening, the topic will be "How Can I Know What is Right in My Fun?" DeHann of Kalamazoo, Mich. The wedding wiH take place Mar ch 26 at 8 o'clock in the evening in Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian church, Charlotte. br. Charles G. McClure will offi ciate, and a program of wedding mus|c will be presented by Mrs. Da vid Wilson and Miss Alice Riden hour. The bride-elect will be given in marriage by her father. Lutheran Ladies To Study Mission Book . Monday night, March 21, at 6:30 p. m. the ladies of the ? Lutheran church will have a covered dish sup per then study their home, mission Twin Table Bridge With Mrs. Goforth Bridge was played progressively at two tables Friday night when Mrs. I. B. Goforth was hostess to the Twin Table Bridge club.' Mrs. M. H. Biser and Mrs W. E. Blakely were; invited to play. Cherry tarts with tee cream and coffee was served before the progres ?ions started. The. home was made most attrac tive with bowls of daffodils, narcis srus, snow drops, pansies and flower book, "On Our Own Doorstep," by Frank S. Mead. Leading in the stvttfy will be, Mrs. F. R. Miss Lois Watson ' N JE A President Miss Lois Watson, the fourth grade teacher of Central school will be president of the Kings Mountain unit of the NCEA next year. She will succeed Miss Margaret Goforth, sixth grade teacher of Central. Slated to serve with Miss Watson are Jiliss Helen Turner of East school as secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Juanita Warren of high school as vice-president. These officers, Miss Annie B.
