G, Hord, and Mrs. Aubrey Clay of Waco were delightfully entertained at the Coun ay Club Tuesday night by Mrs. Carl Davidson. The main dining room of the club was festive with mixed spring flow- j ers. The table was in U shape and held a central flower arrangement of white snap dragons and red glads, on the ends were low arrangements of white flowers. When guest* as sembled they were seated at the ta ble and the hostess assisted by Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, Mrs. Aubrey Clay, and Mrs. P. D. Herndon, served cof ( fee ahd pecan pie topped with ice cream. When the table was cleared Mrs. B N. Barnes, president, called the meeting to order and presented Mrs. j Davidson who was in charge of the program. Mrs. Davidson presented Miss Jean Lynch who gave e read ing, "Afraid Of The Dark." Miss Lynch has won the Fulton medal and the County School masters med al. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney who recent ly made a trip to Bermuda gave a very Interesting account of it and al so showed colored slides Which were enjoyed. Routine business was then dis posed of, Mrs. Charles Campbell was welcomed back into the club. MYF Has Many Activities In the youth chapel, Centra. Me thodist church, on Sunday morning a worship program was presented by Miss Elizabeth Hunt's class of gh-Js, using the painting, "The Last Sup per" on a table covered in white as a worship cen'er. Yellow tulips were placed on a side table. ?Next Sunday morning, John War lick is to serve as program chairman using the theme, "Chrif. Knocks at Our Hearts' Doors," wkl, the paint ing, "The Light of the World ' as a worship center. On Sunday evening the Youth Fel lowship was served a light supper by Circle No. 6, Seniors met for a pro gram, ''Day by Day," led by Dottle Smith. Mis9 Elizabeth Hunt directed the group in practice for the youth choir which sang for the evening service. Seniors were to attend the Gaston ia Sub' District MYF meeting at Brad ley Memorial Methodist church in Gastonia on Thursday night, April 28. This group is planning a Da-rents' reception to be given during Family Week, May 1-8. - - * Hi-Lo Bridge Club With G. E. Bridges Spring flowers were used for dec orations with- pleasing effect last Friday night in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glee E. Bridges when they en tertained the Hi-Lo bridge club. Interesting progressions were en Joyed when tallies were compared Mrs. Sam Stalling was high for la dies with J. C. Bridges high for tmen. C. i Investiture Service i Girl Scout Troop No. 19 The Invesrtture service of the Girl Scout Troop 19 was held Sunday I morning at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist ehurch. ReV. L. C. Pinnix was ! in charge of the service, assisted by j Miss Fannie Funderburke, the direc- j ! tor of Pioneer Girl Scout area, and ! i Miss Florence Stabler, field director I of Cleveland county. This is the firm Girl Scout Inves titure service to be held in a church 1 since the complete organization of Girl Scouts in Kings Mountain. [? The Flag bearers were Marilyn Tesseener and Derice Weir. The Color Guards were Kathryn Ware and Sara Houser. The Flag bearers and Color Guards led the Procession al as the organist, Miss Lula Mae Teague played "Onward Christian Soldiers." After placing the Flags at the altar, the Scou is retired to re enter with Troop 19 and their lead ers. This processional began with Miss Funderburke, Mrs. William Houser, Miss Stabler and Mrs. James Littlejohn leading, and followed by Troop to be invested. AJso following were Brownie Troop 24 and their leaders. Miss Naomi Edens and Miss Diana Gamble. Brownie Troop 14 with their . leader, Mrs? James Simpson; Intermediate Troop 4 and leader. Miss Helen Ramsey; Inter mediate Troop 11 and leaders, Miss Elizabeth Hunt and Miss Payseur. Boy Scout Troop 6 and Scoutmaster, C. D. Ware. Others making up the processional was the Town Council of Girl Scouting, the First Baptist Church Committee of Girl Scouts, Committee of Troop 19, and parents of the Girls to be invested. Silver horseshoes with lovely yel low satin bows marked the pews for all Scouters and committees. Artis tic arrangements of Scott Prune yel low tulips and yellow Dutch iris made a beautiful setting for the ser vice. The ceremony vaf simple but Im pressive and during the service, the organist pla*vd soft music. Rev. Pin nix approached the altar and light ed a single taper before the Cross which symbolized the Church of Christ. The pastor then presented the Troop to Miss Funderburke and Miss Stabler ior the investiture. The troop formed in the horseshoe position be fore the altar and Miss Funderburke lighted the three tapers in the three branched candelabrum. That repre sented the Girl Scout Promise. The HTGirl Scout laws were s?M I in unison and each girl lighted a candle. The patrol leader, Derice Weir presented each girl to be inves ted, namely: Jane Harris, Kathryn Ware, Fern Barrett, Marilyn Tessee ner, Patricia Malcolm. Judith Logan {jprnSSSmSSSmSmmm and Sara Houser. Yyvonne Lindsay, was not present, due to sickness. The Girl Scout . Promise, was made together and pins were given which made ihem full fie<*g??d Scouts. The leaders, Mrs. Houser and Mrs. Little john were then invented and wel co.ned into the Sisterhood of Girl I Scouts. The prayer of bleudng was ' ; given by the minister which follow | ed with the sermon, "God's Plan For Victory." After the benediction and dhoral response the Scouts retired Just as they had entered. Immediately after the morning ? services Miss Funderburke, Miss Stabler and Mrs. Luther C?rtsler were entertained at a luncheon in Shelby, by the Scout Committees of the Baptict church.
