Ware Gives A Lovely Party One of th?- .most attractive and de lightful parties of the week was gi veh last Saturday afternoon by Mrs. M. A. Ware at her lovely home on Gaston street. Very unique arrangements of mix ed flowers were used throughout the nome. Four tables were appointed for refershments on the arrival of the guests. Methodist Circle No. 3 Meets Circle No. 3 Central Methodist church, met Monday night at ihe home ol Mrs. Baxter Pay.seur, witn Miss Martha Walker as co-hostess. Nineteen were present. The apart ment was decorated with roses, lark spur, and other spring flowers. Mrs. Bun Goforth, leader, conducted the' business, during which plans were made for the cake sale to be held j Saturday at Saunders Mens Shop by , all circles to raise money on the pro- ' ! Ject which this circle instigated, car peting the youth chapel. Mrs. Otto Hehn began the program entitled "By His Light Shall the Na tions Walk" with the devotionais. Mrs. David Hamrick then talked oh "Spiritual Life," followed by an ex planation of "Christian Social Rela tions and Local Church Activities" by Mrs. Bun Goforth. Mrs. Hehn gave a report on "Missionary Education and Service" and Mrs. C, J. Gault, Jk., explained "What We Do With Our Money." At the conclusion of the program, refreshments consisting of heavenly hash, Old London cheese sandwich es, peanuts, and*fruit punch were served oy the hostease. Methodist Youth Study About "Service" Beginning a series of programs on "Summer of Service," Randle Wil liamson conducted a program on "Time on Your Hands" at the even ing meeting of the Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship Sunday at 7 o' clock. Next Sunday evening Hunter Warlick will serve as program chair ?nan for a program entitled "Serving Where You Live." Sunday Imornfrng the Intermediate Boys class conducted a Mother's Day J program, with readings, scriptures,} hymns, and poems about "Mother." | As a wwship center, a white silhou ette of a mother's head wap placed on the wine curtain in the Center of the wall, with white candle* and red roses on the table below it Ivy and spring flowers were placed on smalt tables on the sides. The Garden department of the Sheiby Woman's club held their an nual .-spring Flower Show Wednes day from 3 ? 9 o'clock. The club wm moat attractive with accent* of ivy and bamboo. On entering, an attractive out door scene caught the eye. On a cir- ; ele o f artificial grass stood a white bird bath with two gorgeous white magnolia blossoms and their green wax?d leaves casually floated in the basin of water. The gr&ss was edged with a circle of potted red geraniums and a tnree piece white wrought iron garden-set. At one aloe an ornamental white wheel barrel held several potted blue and pink African violets. Trie mantel arrangement by Gil-, liat; by invitation, was equal to their artistic florist ability. At the left of ^e entrance, a shad, ow box holding an artificial manni kln ladies head, whose hat was made of ceramine, but was . topped, with dainty natural flowers. l'his was surrounded by four models showing different styles of ladies hats decorated with lively natural flowers to ennc.nce the beauty and emphasize the theme of the garden show ? "Fashion* in Flowers' . This original display was exhibited by Miss Kathleen Traywick, by invita tion. At the right of the entrance ? four shaoow boxes were arranged, by invitation, depicting Education, Peace, Keiigion, and Kemembrance or Hope. Around the entire wall space ex hibits of specimen flowers of many varieties, snrubs, iris, eic. ? appoint men ts suitable for most every need and occasion. * The men's exhibit wis very out standing. lhe interest shown by preacher and laymen was unusual, ihese depicted different aspects in unique and original designs. Give a .man an old shoe, ragged robins, day lilies, cigarettes, cigars and "four roses" ? they can really go to town in flower arrangin. The room to the left was arranged with a perfectly appointed table, decorated for a dinner engagement. This was by invitation. The show was successfully carri ed out by the detail planning of Mrs. R. T. LeGrand, Sr. Mrs. E. S. Bennett. Mrs. George Still and members of their committees. The Judges were Mrs. W. L. Press iy, Mrs. George H. Mauney and Mrs. Moffatt Ware from Kings Mountain. Mrs. Z. J. Thompson entertained the judges and chairmen of commit tees at her attractive home for lun ch prior to the opening of the Gar: den Show. The centerpiece of red roses and yellow Jasi-mine formed a color note for the delectable luncheon. Tacky Party Given By Pauline Club Cauline Community club held tg#ir regular meeting in the club tt&sse fTuesd a y night. Mrs. Earl Led ford, president, presided over the short business meeting. Instead of a regular program for this meeting it was turned into a social Affair. A tacky party had been planned, each member entered heart Uy into the plans and came dressed "Tacky." ?!T ' ? , Mrs. Earl Ledford caried off the priae as looking the Tackiest. Aix auction sale was held. Mrs. Clyde Uolly, as auctioneer, sold the packages amid much fun and bid ding j. the proceeds go to the treasur er be used by the club as they wish. Delicious refreshments were serv ed by the hostesse, Mesdames Duck er, Ellis and Milton. Rebecca Long Circle M?t Monday Night The Rebecca Long Circle of the First Baptist church met Monday night with Mrs. Dickie Tate, Mrs. H. J. Mcintosh was Joint hostess. , Mrs Harold Cogglns, leader gave the devotional. Mist Mabel Logan leader for the meeting with (he as sistance of Mrs. Rowel 1 Lane, Mrs. J. K. Willis, Mrs. J. M. Tolleson was hostess Tuesday afternoon to -th Entre-Nous bridge club and one invited guest, Mis. M. H. Riser. Two tables were placed for play and appointed for refreshments on the arrival of the guests. A dainty ncsegay was on each table. A sweet course with punch was served. / Players enjoyed bridge for an hour after which they compared scores and the high award went to Mrs. B A. Murray. Mrs H. C. Mrs. Peel er's arrangement was of purple and white sweet peas and white snap dragons, the purple peas being grouped at the base of the contain er.
