Ware was a most gra cious hostess to members of the Study Club and invited guests at her tiome on Gaston street Thursday night. The home was attractive with flower arrangement of roses, zinni. and nasturtiums. Mrs, Charles Campbell, program chairman for the month, presented Mrs. J. B. Simpson and Brownie Scout Trdop "No. 14. Using the loud speaker the Brownies presented a radio version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Cast: Snow White (Judy Cooper; Prince Charming ? Judy Cox; Queen ? Becky Thorn burg; Hunter ? Phyllis Dean; Doc ? Norma Kay Hamrlck; Grumpy ? Peggy Craig; Sleepy ? Phyllis Dean Enetzy ? Bobbie Stender; Bashful ? Martha Houser; Dopey ? Becky Blan ton. These little girls ages from 8 to 10 did their parts remarkably well and were congratulated on being able to speak on the "Mike" with tuch ease and polae. During thg social period which preceded the business meeting the hostess was assisted in serving a party plate carrying out the autumn motif in salad, sandwiches and swpet course Which was. served with Russian tea. Davis was the inspiration I of a tempting dinner given Sunday as a- surprise on his birthday, anni versary at his home. M W r ? .. -t U: (; * & Next week its National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week, and the Kings Mountain office of, the Employment Security commis sion is participating by calling at tention to the nation wide effort to provide employment for the disab led. Mrs. Mary B. Goforth, head of the Kings Mountain office, reports there are 21 physically handicapped work ers now registered with the local employment office. Ten of this num. ber are veterans of World War H. Some of the 21 are already is train ing for productive work, and the ma jority are productive workers who ! are employed when local textile plants are in full operation, Mrs. Goforth reported. A few of the work- j era de^'nitely need assistance in job j placement, Mrs. Goforth added. "Ability counts, not disability,'' Mrs. Goforth pointed out. Pearson Appointed To Weather Bureau Robert C. Pearson, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Pearson of 117 Oriental avenue, Kings Mountain, has accepted appointment to the U. S. Weather Bureau. . A former Army Air Force soldier, Mr. Pearson was in Kings Mountain last Weekend and made the an nouncement. He was discharged from the service on August 15 after a three-year hitch, during which time he served a year in Greenland. Mr. Pearson will be stationed at the weather outpost between the ar Officials tic (north) pole and the magnetic north pole. He will be a radio oper ator technician. He is a graduate of Kings Moun- ( tain high school, class of 1946. He left for Washington Wednes day for training for the job and is expecting to leave the United Sta tes sometime in October.
