Saturday morning at the New South paying speciaj com pliment to Miss Barbara ^Sim mons who was married to Wal ter Harmon Raster Sunday after noon. ? The central decoration of the table was a bowl of white cam a ? ttons and Jacey fern. A delicious three-course breakfast was ser ved to the honoree, Miss S|m mons, her mother, Mrs. J. D. Simmons of Rock Hill, Miss Jean Scott of Charlotte, Miss Jane Bob Inette Linder of Bessemer City, Misses Louann Herndon, Farnoes Payne, MaTy Ann Beam -and Char lotte Harrill. Miss Simmons presented each of her attendants wlfh white Bl hei blea- which they.carried in wedding. The host esse .presented Miss I Simmons with crystal in her cho .sen pattern. Bid And Bye^Club Met With L. E. Abbotts Mr, and Mrs. L. E. Abbott were delightful hosts oh Saiurday night to the Bid and Bye Club en tertaining at their home in Cres icent Hiil. . * Flowering, shrubs, pansic-s, Eas ter lilies and colored eggs were used in decorations. Tables were appointed for refreshments and upon arrival of guests strawberry short cake, ice cream topped- with whipped cream was served. When scores were tallied, Mrs. J. B. Mrs. Boyce " Ware of Kings Mountain met guests at,the, front door as they arrived and introdu jOWti the living room which Included Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey and the lat ter^ stepmother. Mrs. O. O. Day, and sister, Mrs. James Young, both of Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Ram say's costume for the occasion was a dinner gown of white crepe with which she wore silver cos tume jewelry, necklace and ear rings, which were an anniversary gift from her/husband. She wore a shoulder corsage of red rose buds. T*r Miss Wolfe, Mr. Paules [ Joe United In Maniage Of much Interest to her friends in Kings Mountain was the mar riage of Miss Elizabeth Mauney Wolfe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aerman B. Wolfe of Charlotte, and Willtam Roger Paulos of Charlotte, son of Mr. -and Mrs. Charles Edgar Pauley of York, Pa., in a beautiful ceremony Sat urday night In St. Mark's Luth-V eran church. Rev. Walter B. Freed officiated. ? , Easter lilies and greenry form ed the background for the vows. The lilies and wodwardia fern were on the choir rail? on the al tar, and marked the pews for special guests. The altar rail was intertwined with smilax. Numer ous 6even ? branched candelabra held white tapers. .The wedding music was pre sented by Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, organist, and ^Robert R. Rhyne, vocalist. Before the ceremony, Mrs. Mauney played Schubert's "Serenade," theme from the "Pi ano Concerto in A Minor" by Grieg, "Berceuse" from "ioyce lyn" by Godard, "Andante Can white anniversary cake topped with silver bells, a bowl of red roses, and white tapes in triple crystal candelabra. The cake was cut and served with ice cream, punch, salted nuts and mints. The affair was held between 8 and 11 o'clock and around 100 friends of the hosts called to felicitate them on the happy oc casion.. Mrs. Ramsey before marriage was Miss Glayds Day of Green ville, S. C. Mr. Ramsey was born and reared In Kings Mountain, a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Ramsey, I former residents of that city who now live in Gastonia. . Mr. Paules Was his son's best man. Ushers were Stanley Saunders of High Point, Jack Anderson Pitt of Westfield, N. J., James T. Knotts of Albe marle, and George Wolff, I^orrls W. Crigler, and Phillip Edward Paules, brother of the bridegroom all of Charlotte. Wedding Gown I: The bride wore an original gown of white duchess satin, fea turing a bertha embroidered with pearls in a cut-out design, giving an off-shoulder effect The fitted bodice was fastened In > the back with loops and buttons, as were the long sleeves tapering to points over the hands. The full skirt extended into a cathedral train, and her veil of Imported bridal illusion was worn with a tiara of pearls designed 10 match the bertha. She carried a bouquet of white sweetpeas, feathered white carnations, and white ma line centered with a white orchid. Her only ornament was a pearl necklace, gift of the bride-groom. Miss Anna Wolf was her sis ter's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Juanita Wolf, sister of the bride, Miss l^ancy Ann Paules, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Jean Cushman, and Mrs. Stewart B. Blanton, all of Charlotte; Miss Peggy Ann Mauaey of-Klngs Mountain, sum) Mrs. Clifford P. Fisher of Rock well. Flower girls were Martha Jean Fisher and April White. Kenneth Bari^es wai the rlngbearer, and William P. Brandon was acolyte. 1 A reception was held in the so cial hell of the church after the ceremony. Bride And Bridegroom Mrs. Partes was graduated from Duke university whehc she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She is on the faculty of Piedmont Junior high school. She Is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Mauney of Kings Mountain. Mr. Paules war also graduated from Dyke university where she was a member of Sigma Nu fra ternity. He served for 18 months in th? U. S. Navy, and is employ ed by the American Hardware & Equipment company of Charlotte. Those attending from Kings Mountain were Mr. and Mrs. S. Kathleen Dettmar Wins Art Award * Miss Kathleen Dettmar, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Dettmar, of Kings Mountain, took two first place awards and one second place award In the 19th annual exxhibition of student work at Rlngllng Sekool of Art, Sarasoto, Fla., according to announcement from the school.
