The Calvary Baptist church at
Rutherfordto'n was the scene of a
lovely wedding Suftday, June 25,
at 4 o'clock when Miss Ruby Put
nam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.
H. Putnam of Rutherfordton, be
came the bride of William R. Min
ed, son of Mr. and Mm. Vernon E.
Hipes of Spindale. Rev. Watson
Abrams, pastor of the church, of
ficiated, using the double ring
ceremony.
The vows were spoken before]
an altar banked with Oregon j
fern, southern greenery, and a
sunbursts arrangement of white
gladiolus. Gothis. candelabra
holding cathedral tapers were
used- The pews for special guests
were marked with satin ribbons
and plumossa tern.
Prior to the ceremony Mrs. Geo:
Blanton, pianist, of Shelby, and
Hoyt Abrams, \ -oca list of Gaston
ia, presented a program of nup
tial music.
The bride, who was given . in
marriage by her father, A. H. Put
nam, wore a street length dress
of white taffeta and nylon net
with a white picture hat and lin
en accessories. She carried a cas
cade of bouquet of miniature
carnations, stephanotis, and cen
tered with a white orchid.
Mrs. Alvin Putnam was matron
of honor. She wore a pink dress
similar to that of the bride. She
carried a semi cascade bouquet
of gardenia*.
MLsses Judy Hord of Shelby and
Chariene Hord of Forest City were
flower girls. They wore white or
gandy with green velvet sashes
and head-dresses of greer. net
and daisies.
The ushers were Alvon H. Put
nam of Raleigh, brother of the
bride', Birch Callahan, Jr.. Eugene
Hines, brother of the grt>om, and
Dewitt Frady Of Rutherfordton.
The groom had as best man, Don
Hensley of Gastonla, former col
lege mate. 1
Mrs. Putnam, mother of the
bride, wore a beige dress with
navy accessories. Her corsage was
of deep pink carnations. Mrs.
Hines, mother of the groom, wore
a navy crepe dress with match
ing accessories. Her corsage was
of yellow carnations.
After receiving the guests in
the vestibule of the church the
couple left for a wedding trip.
Returning, they will reside at the
home of the bride's parents.
Mrs. Hines is a nlecc of both
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Putnam, Mr.
W. W. Putnam of Kings Moun
tain and Mrs. L. G. Hord. formerly
of Kings Mountain.

home on Williams Road, Maiden,
N. C., honoring her husband, lit
tle daughter and sister-in-law,
Mrs. Aubrey Williams, on their
