The monthly meeting of the
DAH was held Wednesday after
noon in the home of Mrs. Carl'
Howard with Miss Pearl Ram
seur as hostess.
Twelve members and one vis-.
1tor were present.
Mrs. Tolly Shufprd, regent pre
sided over the routine business
and also discussed the State con,
stitiitional amendments for the
November election and urged
each one to vote.
During the social hour follow
ing the program the hostess ser
ved a salad course with pumpkin
tarts.

play with members of the Kntre
Nous bridge club when they met
Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. H. I.. Campbell.

were presented attractive gifts.

The bride was given in marri- j
age by her father, and Joe Fitz- j
patrlck of Brooklyn, N, Y., was
host man. The bride's costume
was an original gown of candle
light heirloom lace over slipper
sTitln with folds of tulle filling
in the off- the -shoulder neckline;
long sleeves ending in. o'alia lily
points, and .1 tight bodice with
flared skirt' ending, in a long
train. A fingertip veil of candle
light illusion was fastened to a
bonnet -shaped headdress trim
med with five rows of pearls. Her
bouquet was a white muff of
chrysanthemums centered with a
yellow throated orchid.
Her only ornament was a
string of pearls, gift of the bride
groom.
Miss Cynthia Ann Grice, niece |
of the bride of Shelby, was maid
of honor, while the matron of ho
nor was another niece of the
bride, Mrs. VV. O. Ruddock of
Tampa, Fla., and Kings Moun
tain. They wore gowns of emer
ald green velvet made with full
skirt and horse shoe neckline.
They carried green muffs center
ed with bronze chrycanthemums
and bronze ribbons.
Bridesmaids included Mrs. I. B.
Goforth, Jr., Mrs. F. A. McDaniel,
Jr., Mrs. Wilmoth Duke Kerns,
Miss Pat Balla'd, Miss Evelyn
Gillespie, and Miss Ola Ross of
Aurora and Greenville, N. C. The
bridesmaids wore dresses and
carried flowers identical to those
of the matron and maid of honor.
Diane Falls was flower girl. She
wore an emerald green velvet
dress and carried a white basket
of white rose petals.
After a wedding trip in Tennes
see, the couple will make their
home at 1371 SW 23rd street, Mi
ami, Fla.
The bride graduated from Kings
Mountain high school and at
tended Florida Southern college,
Lakeland, Fla. ,
The bridegroom graduated from
Florida Southern college with ?
B. S. ?degree in economics.

Immediately following the cer
emony the bride's parents enter-*

home on Mountain street. The
home was decorated with white
gladoli, chrysanthemums and
candles.

Monroe-Carpenter
Vows Exchanged
In a simple ceremony Satur
day afternoon at the home of the
bridegroom's uncle, the Rev. W.
F. Monroe, in Kings Mountain,
Miss Jeraldine Carpenter, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee
Carpenter, became <he bride of
Charles Eugene Monroe, son of
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Monroe. The
Rev. Monro4 officiated at the sin
gle ring rites.
The couple entered the room
together. The bride wore a blue
and grey tweed suit with blue
blouse and bloves and black ac
cessories. Her corsage was of red
rosebuds.
Mrs. Monroe attended Shelby
high school. Mr. Monroe attended
Bethware high school and is now
employed with Lily Mills. The
couple plan to make their home
on the Cherryville road.
