Neisler on Thursday afternoon ' when she entertained members of the Thursday afternoon book club. Mrs. H, T. Fulton, program lea der, presented Mrs. P. D. Patrick who told of "Christmas in For eign Lands," Mrs. J. S. Evans gave "The Other Wise Man." Piano solo, Silent Night with variations was played by "Mrs. N. F. McGill. W. Barrett and Roy Huffstetler son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Huf(?tet)er were married in a simple ceremony in Gaff ney, S. C. Tuesday night, Decem ber. Roy Cobb, Justice of the peace performed the ceremony. The bride was chic in a suit of tiel blue with navy accessor ies and a shoulder corsage of red rosebuds. The bridfc and groom were ac companied to Gaffney by Miss Bobble Barrett and Reed Thomp son. ? Immediately after the cere mony the couple left for a wed ding trip through Western Caro lina, Tennessee and Kentucky. Mrs. Huffstetler is employed at the Ansell Beauty Shoppe. For the piast several months the groom has been with the Mer chant Marines on the Great Lakes. Mrs. Joe Thomson Fetes One High Club Mrs. Joe Thomson was party hostess Thursday night entertain ing members of the One High Rook Club and two invited guests Mrs. A. H. Patterson and Mrs. P. D. Patrick. .< Tables werte attractively ap pointed for refreshments when guests came to the party. The hostess with the assistance of Mrs. G. W. King, and Miss Jett Plonk served a salad course with coffee. Individual mince tarts topped with whipped cream were passed. Following the course, the ta bles were arranged for rook which left game awards .vith Mrs. W. M. Moorhead and Mrs. J. R. Davis. The living and dining roonrs were attractively decorated with seasonal decorations. An eye catcher in the dining room was the Christmas tree with unusal decorations. Ace Of Clubs Met With Mrs. Mauney Christmas greens and candles added charm to the living and dining rooms in the home of Mrs. C. F. Mauney Thursday afternoon when members of the Ace of Cfubs met to play. . Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Jr., held high score for the afternoon and Mrs. C. D. Blanton was runner-up for second high. After the presen tation of prizes the hostess served a salad course with accessories, passing a sweet course. I Special guests of the hostess were Mrs. C. D. Blanton, Mrs. J. III. Arthur, Mrs. H. S. Evans Circle Hostess Circle No. 2 of the First Pres byterian church met Monday night with Mrs. J. S. Evans at her home in Crescent Hills. Mrs. Hunter Nelsler, chairman presided over the business. The circle decided to give a line? shower and blankets to- one needy family and a basket of Christmas groceries to another family. Mrs. P. D. Patrick sent each members a poem, "Lord of all Pots and Pans." Eleven members responded to roll call. Mrs. Paul Mauney gave the Bi ble lesson ? Prayers of Adoration Revelation 4 and 5; 7-17; 11; 15; 2-4; 19; 1-9, 16. The monthly Emphasis ? Joy Gift. The lesson was closed with prayer. , Mrs. George Moss with the as sistance of Mrs. H. R. Webb gave a v cty interesting Christmas pro gi. m. Mrs. Webb told of Christ mas Around the World. Mrs. Moss gave excerpts from a letter writ ten by Wade Boggs on Joy Gifts, closing program with a poem, "The Spirit of Christmas.' The meeting was closed with prayer. A social period followed. The hostess gave each one a contest. Much merriment ensued as .ali answers pertained to turkey. Am brosia and homemade cocoanut cake was served. Mrs. C. D. Blanton Bridge Club Hostess . Mrs. C. D. Blanton was hostess Monday afternoon to the Dupli cate Club and one additional guest, Mrs. A. F. Dean. Christmas greens and candles added' a cheery note to the party rooms. ? When scores were tallied at the close of thegames it was reveal ed Mrs. J. M. Cooper held high score, Mrs. Howard Jackson sec ond high. ; Cranberry salad with pleasing accessories was served. Favorite RECIPES MERRY CHRISTMAS WREATH (Mrs. P. D. Patrick) 1/2 pound of fresh marshmel lows. 1/4 cup of butter or margarine. One package of crisp rice cereal Melt butter or margarine in top of double' boiler, cook stiring un-' til mixture Is consistency of hea vy syrup. Pour mixture over cereal in a large greased bowl. Stir until all cereal is well coated. Pack the cereal mixture into greased individual ring molds with your well buttered hands. The tighter packed, the better the wreath. Chill molds for about ten minutes. Loosen edge of cereal Ting with spatula gently forcing Ting out of mold. Make dot with cinnamon candy. Let wreath stand over night to harden. Put red bow on top of wreath. * ? ? "MORAVIAN CHRISTMAS COOKIES" (Mrs. Jacob P. Mauney) 1 pint molasses. 1 cup brown sugar (not pack ed). 1 scant cup butter. 1/2 tablespoon cloves. 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Dash of salt. 1 3/4 pounds Hour ? or enough to make not too stiff dough. 3/4 tablespoons ginger and 1 tablespoon nutmeg. Grated rind of 1 orange. 1 level tablespoon soda dlssol? ved In 11/2 tablespoons sweet milk. Combine butter and molasses, add sugar, spices, salt, soda, and then add flour gradually, mixing well after each addition. Add gra- { ted orange rind. Let stand in a cold place a. week or two. Place small amount of dough on slight ly floured board and roll paper thin. Cut with floured cookie cut ters In fancy shapes. Bake on ai greased baking sheet in moderate I oven (350 F) for 6 minutes. These i cookies keep indefinitely in clos- 1 ed tins. Commercial hatcheries in North | Carolina produced 4,570,000 ' thicks' during October. This total set a -new record for the month. ! Production in October, 1949, was I only 1,584,000 chicks. i ll'~ ' 1 ? Social Club Meets With Mrs. Noisier The home of Mrs. C. E. Neisler was festive with holly, other other Christmas greens and nan dina berries Friday afternoon when she entertained the Social Club. . Rook way played progressively with Mrs. M. L. Plonk receiving high score and Mrs. B. S. Neill re^ ceiving low score, each were a warded lovely gilts. After four progressions the hos tess was assisted in serving a frozen salad course with coffee, passing a sweet course. Mrs. P. D. Herndon was invited to play with the members. The U. S.
